2011 NFL Draft: Indianapolis Colts Select Anthony Castonzo, OT From Boston College

Stay connected for news and updates

Peyton Manning now has his protection plan. The Colts selected OT Anthony Castonzo from Boston College with pick #22 in the first round of the NFL Draft, a pick that Colts fans have been clamoring for during the entire off season. Castonzo was a four-year starter at BC, starting at Left Tackle each of his last three seasons.

This is great news for a team in desperate need of Offensive line help, as Castanzo will anchor an offensive line that has struggled the past few years, despite many sacks of Manning. He should be able to step in right away and start in Week 1.

I love this pick. Finally an investment in protecting Manning, other than running short passes and depending on Manning to get rid of the ball fast. With the rest of the AFC South making reach picks across the board, the Colts clearly look like winners on night one.
