Jerraud Powers Now Working Out With Patriots Deion Branch

We mentioned last week that Colts starting corner Jerraud Powers was still working out even though the owner-imposed lockout continues to choke the NFL. One of his workout partners is former-Colts corner Marlin Jackson, the man Powers supplanted as a starter. Also present at the workouts is Antoine Bethea.

Now, it seems the two current and one former Colts players have welcomed the enemy into their workout routine: New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch.

I'd only be slightly mad at this if I didn't already know that Branch has a home near Indianapolis, and he's known for being a hard-working, good-natured guy. Sort of the exact opposite of the man he replaced: Randy Moss. Branch also played his college ball at Louisville. So, he has a lot of strong ties to Indiana (or, Kentuckiana, if you will).

Again, these kinds of updates are nice to read about, especially in light of Javarris James getting arrested. I personally don't believe that smoking weed is 'bad,' but it is illegal. And what fans want to see is players, like Powers (who is the same age as Javarris James, I might add), working their butts off to get ready for the season, not guys getting arrested near South Beach with ganga in their pocket.

While Moss and T.O.

were both hardly good natured, it’s my understanding that they both worked their asses off in practice. Their only problem was that their egos were so big that if they didn’t get the ball early then they didn’t try as hard. They were both great players but they just couldn’t get out of the way of their own egos.

Powers looks really promising.

Pro Bowler of the future. Was already our best corner last year, regardless of what PFF think.

Antoine Bethea - the most underrated safety in the NFL.

Ganja.

Not “ganga.”

I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game. It will take our people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a larger physical stoicism. Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set. Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us. ~Walt Whitman

Nope

Ganga

Spelled either way.

The correct term for it is ganjika.
