Just kidding.
But I did run into Bernard Berrian yesterday in Huntington Beach, Ca. He was a very cool guy, actually seemed genuinely interested in talking to me, and appeared to be in great shape (I mean, he didn't run sprints or anything, but the dude looked solid). He said he was on his way to LA for the ESPYs, and was wearing enough diamonds to make a lot of women wet themselves on-the-spot. I obviously asked the obligatory, "So when are they gonna let you get to back to work?" He chuckled at my curiosity, (like "Oh man, not you too!?") but then said, quite seriously, "Hopefully the end of this week."
Now this clearly means nothing. If Bernard had a legitimate, somewhat exclusive reason to believe that the end of the lockout was imminent, it would already be floating around. People would be reporting, that a source close to them, is hearing, that someone is saying, that it has been rumored, that a deal will be signed by Thursday. Maybe that's just Bernard's new stock answer for people, or maybe he just said what he thought Joe Blow (me!) wanted to hear.
I realize that none of this is news on this site, that I'm merely sharing with people who don't really care about Bernard Berrian, that I saw Bernard Berrian. But with the near entirety of the NFL's fanbase excitedly hanging-on for that next, newest update from Mortensen or Tweet from Schefter, I give you what I can. My small sliver of a "football report"
You're welcome.
