Can Diem Move to Guard?
Since Ryan Diem started out his career at guard, I was wondering why he couldn't end his career there also. Clearly he doesn't have the same quickness as before needed to play tackle but I think he is probably still strong enough to play at guard.
Starting line up with diem at guard would be like this IMO:
LT LG C RG RT
Castonzo Ijalana Saturday Diem Johnson
I'm surprised this idea hasn't floated around that much.
Thoughts?

At $6m?
I don’t think so. From what has been said, Castonzo might not be ready to play LT, in which case he can go to RT, Ijalana at one of the guard spots with CJ at LT, at least in the interim. Diem needs to be cut either which way.
Antoine Bethea - the most underrated safety in the NFL.
Not sure about that.
Plus, I don’t think you want two rookies starting on the left side.
I do agee that Ijalana is probably best suited at Guard.
LT – Castonzo
LG – Johnson
C – Saturday
RG – Ijalana
RT – ??

I'm guessing...
If we re-sign Charlie Johnson, it’ll be to play Tackle until Ijalana is ready to slide outside.
Isn’t Charlie’s natural position Guard? Just seems to make sense to put him back where he fits best.

Yes, he's probably a better fit as a Guard
But if we don’t have anybody suitable to play RT (or LT), then we’d most likely ask CJ to fill-in, like we did with him at left tackle last season.
RT
Linkenbach would play RT in that situation. Diem still gets cut.
The team needs the cap room and cutting Diem makes the most sense.
I don't always drink beer....but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.
Great Idea
Ryan Diem lacks the quickness to face a DE, but still seems strong enough to battle with a DT.

Free will is an illusion, but pragmatically, the illusion of self (ego), choice, freedom, consciousness, are all necessary for the game or struggle to move. No struggle, no universe.

If the rookies are not ready to play, you still have to cut Diem
LT – Johnson
LG – McClendon or Devan
C – Saturday
RG – DeVan or Pollak
RT – Link
This is one of the worse case scenarios above (and this is assuming Johnson is resigned), but I think they can get by with that lineup for the first month. They may have to. It all comes down how the two rookies respond and grasp the system during training camp as to when they’ll start.

Diem needs to GO
Diem isn’t worth the money anymore and I’m sick of seeing false start penalties against Diem. He has been a great Colt but it’s time for him to retire in my mind although he’s not even that old.
I think everyone forgot our best pass blocker in Kyle DeVan?
LT – Castonzo
LG – DeVan
C – Saturday
RG – Ijalana
RT – C. Johnson
Ijalana can fit into the system well I’d think but if Castonzo can’t at the beginning, have:
LT – C. Johnson
LG – Ijalana
C – Saturday
RG – DeVan
RT – Linkenbach
