We've been hearing numbers on what Manning has been asking since the lockout lifted. Most everything I've seen says that Manning's camp has been asking for something approaching 25 mil/year. Now Manning has come out and said not only is he not looking for 25 mil/year, he doesn't need to be the highest paid player. Something is really fishy here. Are the Colts lying about what has been discussed, has Manning done a public about face, or is Condon trying to squeeze the Colts for his own gain. If it's the latter, Peyton should fire him.
I should hope that even though he pays someone to do the negotiating for him, he would have had a conversation about expectations and what is going to be asked. I can't see giving an agent free reign to do whatever he wants. I don't see the Colts, especially Irsay, lying about something like this no matter how many other games they play. You do not screw around when it comes to your franchise player. That leads me to believe that it is Peyton saving face, or Condon. Feeling the way I do about agents, I do believe that it is probably Condon's fault we are in this mess. If that's the case, it's real simple. Peyton should fire him.
