The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed free agent running back Joseph Addai, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports. Terms of the deal are not known. 1070 The Fan radio host JMV has also confirmed Addai has re-signed. In his tweet, JMV refers to Addai as being 'done,' and what he means by that is his new deal is done.
Bringing Addai back is interesting in that 1) No one else really seemed to want him since he became a free agent, and 2) they already have Donald Brown and rookie Delone Carter on the roster. With so many holes to fill on the defensive line and in the secondary, adding another runningback seems odd.
It also doesn't speak well of Brown. We're now in year three since he was drafted in the first round of the '09 draft, and the team still doesn't seem comfortable handing the runningback reigns over to him.
Back to Addai, he's a tough runner who plays smart and does all the little things right. He's also just a good, nice guy. Hard not to feel good about someone like that getting re-signed.
