The Deal that isn't made...
The number of people screaming at the Colts for not signing free agents is amazing to me. I know on the internet it is tough not to come off as a smartass, but I'm actually asking a legitimate question.
Who should the Colts have signed in FA thus far, at the number they have received? In other words, who have the Colts missed on?
Starting with Defense....
NE's deal for Hainsworth is low risk, but I really don't feel like he fits on the team culture wise. Perhaps I'm reading too much into that, but I don't think he'd do well with they type of culture here in Indy. 5 mil is a lot to pay him as well for a DT for the Colts. If you look at the other DT's that have often been talked about, Coefield charged the Redskins the Dan Snyder tax and got 6 mil per. The Mebane deal isn't bad, but again, 5 mil per is probably about 1.5 - 2 mil more per year than the Colts are going to be able to spend on a DT realistically.
Other defensive players, Nnamdi is a reasonable price, but is a.) not the type of corner the Colts typically use, and b.) they had a ton in Hayden when that deal went down. I don't think they could have swung it because of that. I can't track down Quintn Mikell's deal numbers right now, so not sure about that. Eric Weddle as the highest paid S in the league? I think the Colts can't match that. Dawan Landry deal info wasn't available yet either.
On offense, I don't mind Ocho. However, I think he doesn't fill a need for us. He's at BEST he's a poor mans Reggie. He doesn't have the speed of Collie, Gonzo, or Garcon. Clark and Tamme both run better inside routes against better matchups (vs. LB's) The only RB FA worth signing for the Colts they signed (Addai) because of his knowledge of the offense. I supposed there are a couple of OL that you could justify, but it doesn't make much sense give that they are trying to bring CJ back as a G or RT and with the 2 rookies that they want to get on the field.
The only contract I know of that I say the Colts "missed" on was Okoye. I would have liked to see him here for 1 year.
FA's still available that the Colts could get? Shaun Cody DT as a run stuffer. Pat Williams in the same role if he can be coaxed out of retirement (rumor) Donte Whitner as a 3rd S option. Matt Light as a temporary T for a year or 2 (played Left for NE but would be a good RT for less than Diem's money especially)
Please respond and tell me what you think. I would like to know.

You left out someone,
I like Addai a lot but I actually thin Ahmad Bradshaw would have been a great pick up for us. His blocking is outstanding, runs the ball very well and is a good recover out of the backfield. I also think we missed out on Cullen Jenkins. Okoye has mixed reviews, he may be an upgrade over our DTs but then again, who wouldn’t? I actually prefer a veteran DT over a young guy (all of our DTs are young) so Tommie Harris could be a decent fit. With Silva not resigned we could really use a guy like Whitner in case of injury.
Nice to return a guy who knows the system though
And Ahmad most likely would have liked a long term deal. Colts must be expecting someone to step up this year…

Now don't get me wrong
I’m an Addai fan, I’m just saying Bradshaw might me a little more explosive but does have a fumbling problem.
our system for a RB is not difficult
receivers have to point our coverages/the blitz thats why its tough for them, peyton moves the rb to whichever side he thinks the pressure is coming

*out* sorry
look addai’s rookie year we won the super bowl i think that speaks to the difficulty level and he was straight from college

Yes, but...
Addai wasn’t the starting back until the playoffs. He had an entire season to watch Rhodes and learn the system. He wa also a known blocker in college. The guys we’re talking about here now are unknowns in that skill.
Yeah, I'm Shure.

Bradshaw can block he’s not a 22 year old out of college

Peyton's preference
I think it’s mostly Peyton’s preference. I think that Bradshaw and Addai are comparable. We’ll have to wait and see until they are both signed, but I also think Addai will come cheaper.
Yeah, I'm Shure.
Tell that to Donald Brown

Ahmad Bradshaw >>>>>>>>> Addai
and we should sign Ryan Harris he went to ND and he’s good

thats a top 50 list of FAs you will not see Addai/CJ on it, we as colts fans overvalue our own, and RB is not a complicated position in our offense
At BEST a poor man's Reggie? WTF
you can’t be serious…….. I love Reggie Wayne, but Ocho does circles around him at being a wideout. He’s not a 4 time All-Pro for no reason
So your point is
They’re pretty equal receivers?
Yeah, this is a bad move from NE, bringing in a Reggie Wayne…

not that it's bad for NE
It’s just not a deal that the Colts needed to make. That is the point of the question. What deal, given the money and roster situation, should the Colts have made or what one’s left should they?
Yeah, I'm Shure.
Depends whether you'd rather two precise route runners,
And Collie or Garçon in the slot.
