Dont worry about the defense
Why not worry about a defense that 3 out of 4 years sucks? Cause of free agents and rookies. We now have a run line and a pass line.. Worked great. Tommie Harris and Drake Nevis are gonna cause fits from the inside, and cant wait to see freeney and mathis lined up with those two in the middle. Fili had some great run defense from the 3 technique on the run line. We stopped the champs running game awesomely. I expect we have a top 15 defense this year. Anyone that has an argument with that id love to hear

Yea...Secondary
That’s part of the defence. Yea, it’s great that Nevis and Harris, and Anderson was all brought in to improve our D-line, and it’s improved a lot, and that’s great and all, but our secondary as of right now is an issue which no one addresses. A few problems.
1. Safeties – Melvin Bullitt is coming off an injury and so far in preseason, he’s been mediocre, not great. And he doesn’t have much backup. Joe Lefeged, David Caldwell, both are nobodies, and if Bullitt were to get injured, we’d essentially be screwed. And Aaron Francisco has signed with the Detriot Lions, so we don’t even have him. Antoine Bethea has a hamstring injury, but he should be fine since Mike Newton was released. But hey, at least Chip Vaughn is gone, accidental rhyme.
2. Jacob Lacey as a starter – So far, he’s been starting, I don’t know why. He’s a decent zone coverage guy, but he can’t play man coverage. He’s not fast, infact, he’s sort of slow, and he’s poor at man coverage. Actually, I don’t think he likes to play man since Lacey gives up a 8-12 yard cushion at all times, which is wierd to see. CBs should give about 3-4 yards of cushions and Lacey is giving too much. Tryon should be starting. Though I would like to see Kelvin Hayden resigned and have Hayden start alongside with Powers, even though he’s had 3 poor injury plagued season, he has experience, and he’s a decent CB. If coaches don’t see Tryon as a starter, than Hayden should, not Lacey. Lacey at most can be a nickel CB or backup a tired starter.
3. Jerraud Powers – Coming off an injury, he doesn’t seem himself in preseason. He’s missing tackles, and doesn’t seem to be working too hard. I’m hoping that he’s just saving his body for the regular season.
4. Kevin Thomas – He’s looked good so far, and he could be a future starting CB for the Colts if all goes well, but a knee injury is serious for a CB. He’s got to watch the knee and make sure not to injure it. He cannot go down, Chris Rucker has shown nothing at all in preseason, and Cornelius Brown has done nothing in preseason and last year was just average for a backup, Kevin Thomas needs to stay healthy.
In general, the defence depends on the play of Bethea and Bullitt, if they can hold their own and down the middle, the Colts defence will do fine.
this
The thing that worries me most about the Colts defense is definitely the secondary. Even the linebacking corps looks as deep and decent as it has in years.
The secondary….well, let’s just say it has looked terrible as a unit, despite some individuals showing good promise.

Coaches!!!
That is what I am worried about. We can have all the great players on D, but if they are told to play that soft cover 2 nothing is gonna change. We will let the other teams offense drive up and down the field, chew up clock, and keep our offense off the field. Poor coaching will make sure our defense is not as good as it should be.
well
tommie harris hasnt shown much
we cant stop the run. not sure if we can get pressure up the middle
and our secondary and lbers are bad football players
yep. that just screams all is good
