Did anyone see Bob Sanders play?

Lots of controversy surrounding how the roster was managed.  So I have a few questions for anyone who knows.  How much cap money was saved by cutting Bob Sanders?  I was unable to watch the San Diego game, but Sanders had 3 tackles and 3 assists.  Did anyone actually see the game?  How did he play?If the Colts FO did not save a ton by cutting Bob, they shouldn't have or at the very least should have sat down with him and said we need to cut you, but sign you back to a 1 year deal.  I suspect FO made a mistake here.

They are keeping Anthony Gonzalez and I think he is more injury prone than Sanders.

Sanders

Played well and saved a AP touchdown run but the Vikes still got the touch down anyways. He did over-pursue AP on a couple of plays and the Chargers D is good enough that Bob does not need to blow up the running back on every play to stop the run but the Charges D could not hold AP down. Bob was all over the place like his normal self but it is a matter of time before he blows one of knees or tears a bicep that is just his style of play. His body can not hold up. With Gonzo the Colts have to keep him with Reggie being in a contract year and maybe he will walk. I do not think Gonzo is anymore injury prone than Bob but he may not be any less which does not do the Colts any good at all. I think he just has had a lot of bad luck and he is hurt right now but not injured if everything was going right for the Colts right now I think he could be activated for Sunday but unless Garcon or Wayne are not able to suit up Gonzo will remain inactive considering he has no chemistry with #5.

Back to Business

You could tell that Sanders was still the same player. He didn’t show it too much, but if he can stay healthy, by week 4, Bob will be like the player he was, which would be unfortunate for any opposing offence. Bob played well, and he made up for the few mistakes that Eric Weddle made. Chargers finally have a good safety.

Sanders was cleared from the books

His cap number was 7 million for 2011, 9 for 2012.

completely cleared because he was picked up by another team, right?

so does that also clear any prorated amounts from earlier bonuses?

BTW, Gonzo costs around 1 million

So you understand why was Sanders cut, and not Gonzo

Missing the point

What strikes me about the Bob S. situation is how is he staying healthy? Could’t play for 3 years in a row now he goes through training camp ,pre- season and the first game with not a scratch. How do you explain it? Serendippity, happenstance, good luck? Is it something else. Some history, when Bill Parcells took over Pats in the 9o’s one of his first moves was to replace the strength coach. Why,to many players were getting injured for no reason and he believed part of the problem was how they were training.By the way ,injuries went way down.Interesting isn’t it.

interesting but...

Colts only have a few players (the same ones) who are consistently injured.

Let's think about it

The reason why Sanders was always hurt is because our defense is too “soft”, which means Sanders had to play extra hard in order for our defense to be half decent. The San Diego Chargers have a much better D than the Colts, so Bob Sanders doesn’t have to play as hard and physical with them as he did the with the Colts. I won’t be surprised if he completed his first 16-game season with the Chargers.
