We must look at the tweets last night from Justin Tryon, the outgoing Colts cornerback, as they were powerful enough to prompt a response from owner Jim Irsay.

Jim Irsay

Is probably going to become more like his dad as he gets older. That’s a bad thing. Just remember back to the time when Jim Irsay ran the team as GM , he is a horrible football guy. He got lucky with the Polian/Mora team. Jim Mora does not get enough credit for his part in turning this thing around. But Mora would have never not started Tryon if he wanted to. For that part, Dungy had the gravitas not to be interfered with and was a great coach. I am afraid even if Caldwell is a great coach, the Polians and Irsay won’t really let him run this team the way he wants to. Who knows? Maybe Caldwell didn’t even want Collins.

Irsays response

Pretty much confirms for me that Tryon is correct. When was the last time we got any meaningful information (or even remotely interesting info) from Caldwell? It’s always Irsay and Bill we hear from, especially on who’s starting.

I agree with you 100% on Mora. To me, the 3 people that had the most influence on turning this team from a complete laughing stock into a relevant team fans cared about were Mora, Harbaugh and Manning. Harbaugh doesn’t get the love nationally but Mora doesn’t seem to get the love anywhere.

What do I really have left in life but this place? It ain't much of a home, but it's all I got. Well, g******it. I'll be damned if I let some foreign, graffiti writin', soul suckin', son of a bitch in an oversized cowboy hat and boots take my friend's souls and sh** 'em down the visitors toilet!

Maybe

But while Dungy was able to put this team over the top, Mora came here and was the first coach to instill a new level of toughness and accountability. The team’s turnaround started with him. Mora got this team moving in the right direction.

Main reason he got canned was he publicly criticized Manning and the team. Can’t do that with BP around.
