Ok, so we have 5 RBs, 4 TEs, and 8 O-Lineman.  McNeill as far as I've seen is a pass-catching TE, like a Clark or Tamme.

Foster apparently is still wanted?  My brother (a Ravens fan) likes to make fun of how their LBs are bigger than some of our DTs.  Apparently thats still true.

Basically I think this was what we expected at QB, WR, LB, DB.  Otherwise, we kept an extra TE, an extra RB, and an extra CB, and cut O-lineman and D-lineman who many thought would/should make it (Devan, Harris, Chick, Ogbu, Matthews).  Might this indicate we intend on going after O-lineman and D-lineman between now and Sep.11?

Notable Cuts that I've seen:

Brandon Meriweather obviously.

DTs - Jeremy Jarmon, Gabe Watson, John McCargo

OL - Max Jean-Gilles

I hope we go after some linemen

Our O-line depth is WEAK.
Richard and Pollack over DeVan and McClendon makes me wanna puke.
Jean-Gilles would help ease my stomach and I hope they sign Ogbu to the practice squad so they can at least call him up once they realize Foster and Moala ain’t gonna cut it in this league.
DT is the one position where the small, but fast philosophy doesn’t work.

Moala has really improved over his three years in the league. He and Nevis looked very good togeather along the front. I think Moala will be a part of the D-line rotation for a long time to come. Maybe not a stud like Nevis, but a good and solid player.

after a solid draft

this team is actually worse off

by omahacolt on Sep 3, 2011 10:35 PM EDT reply actions

pretty simple

oline is worse ( depth wise and the rookies will not be very good this year)
linebackers are worse
corners are worse
donald brown wasnt cut
manning is hurt
the wrs are the same. worse since i figured we would upgrade blair white

I think you're overreacting

and it’s a result of being on this site too long. Better at RB & D-Line. Healthier at CB, Safety, WR, and TE. Take a chill and let the season play out before you start passing judgment. It’s going to be okay…

why?

the colts made stupid cuts. we have worse depth because of their mistakes. nobody waits all season to make a judgement. thats just dumb and would make message boards pointless

by omahacolt on Sep 4, 2011 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions

How do you know they are stupid?

Chick got signed to Jags practice squad, he didn’t get signed by anyone. Hughes would have been snatched up by another team immediately. You don’t know if they’re better or not. You’re guessing. Message boards wouldn’t be pointless, Instead playing the role of fan/gm you could talk about dumb moves made in the past, which the Colts obviously have done. I didn’t like the Tommie Harris signing when it happened and now I can definitively say that it was a waste of time.

hughes

may have been signed but he would still have sucked

false

oline is definitely better, they just need some time to gel together as a group
linebackers are better, i honestly think ernie sims brings more to the table than session who wanted more money even after a down season plus conner will be healthy and with a year of experience under his belt, same with angerer
corners are not really worse, hayden never plays a full season and was getting way too much money. we definitely are not strong at CB but i cant say worse, powers and tryon were basically the duo last year
donald brown doesnt need to be cut…yet. give him a chance
manning is fine #believedat
how are the wrs worse? collie will be back, and the wayne/garcon combo is better than most
some colts fans are so fickle

LBs

I think are the strength of the team this year. I don’t like the starters for the OLine, depth isn’t really an issue for me but I think the starters should be:

LT-Castonzo
LG-Reitz
C-Saturday
RG-Diem
RT-Ijalana

WRs is a weakness considering the injury history. Picking up Brandon Tate, Ricardo Lockette, TO/Moss, or trading for Golden Tate would be fine with me. Could the possible trade be for Asante Samuel? Colts still need a good DT, WR, CB, OL, and S to round out the roster…….wait a minute…isn’t that the same think they’ve needed for the last 5yrs??

Starting O-line

I think that at some time, hopefully early, this season Ijalana will take over for Link. I believe that they are trying to get Ijalana groomed into a NFL caliber RT. This early in the season I don’t think that the rookie takes the starting job. I agree that Link is not the answer to our weak O-line. Maybe they are looking at the free agent list now…we can only hope!

really?

we dont even have an above average lb on the team

by omahacolt on Sep 4, 2011 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions

maybe

the Colts are trading for Joshua Cribbs.

by Dito29 on Sep 4, 2011 12:23 PM EDT reply actions

some player cuts were questionable

Joe Reitz must be a hell of a Guard if he made the roster and beat out DeVan (who played real solid last year) and McClendon, I honestly liked the guy but cutting Devan and McClendon made absolutely no sense to me.

Speaking of O-Line, why was Richard kept anyway? He is by far the worst lineman on the team, another person who should have been kept is Michael Toudoze, he is average at pass blocking but seems to be a run blocking specialist.

I found it funny that the Colts keep 5 RBs this season, I think Spann/Evans was a great upgrade over Javarris James, but why both of them. I think Evans was the better choice over Spann.

Tommie Harris was the cut the surprised me the most has him and Mookie would have been a stud run stopping DT duo.

The only new additions that intrigued me was Ernie Sims, Adrian Moten, and possibly Tyler Brayton

i think your QQB will be on IR for this year, and thats a shame for the Colts chances of a home SB
