All this rah rah “the colts wont roll over” stuff just goes to show that people drimk the Polian cool-aid. Peyton covers up so many holes and problems in the roster. The Polian family will be expossed this season.

I'm surprised the lineman from the last couple years weren't brought up on criminal charges.
Near manslaughter it was.

all teams epecially afc south
are celebrating their victories over the colts.. I will tell you this right now. the colts wont roll over their bellies.. this team will rally around collins that in my mind and on stats is a pretty solid QB and will put up the greatest fight your’ve ever seen from a colts team..
Don’t go marking that W on your schedule just yet NFL.. The colts will fight.. there is precedence of a team giving a fight as a team abd rallying around the backup see: Irsays tweets about how brady and werner came to be..
all this manning is out our season is lost will hopefully go into each colts player minds ,last time I check Colts were a team and as one they will respond in what I expect “Lights out manner from every position” .. this is their chance to prove everyone including colts own fans wrong , and let the NFL know that the colts can and will win games even without Manning..

Rallying is the key word.
If Manning can somehow take us to the Super Bowl, after all of this? Historic and heroic. That would be absolutely incredible. If Collins, the run game, and our D can “put da team on my back” until Manning returns, that would speak volumes to Manning. And most of all, to the fans.
This is Collins’ big chance. He came out of retirement for this opportunity. If there was ever a moment that the whole team needed to step up, it’s RIGHT, FRICKIN’, NOW. That means the Donald Brown’s, the Jerry Hughes’, and the Curtis Painter’s. Every player and every snap must count.

i think that this is the perfect time for the rest of the team to show that they can hold their own without manning. Manny people believe that without Manning the colts are nothing. Well, as leftysmoke said, the whole team needs to step up.
How about this as an opportunity for Caldwell to show his coaching chops
With Manning out, the importance of coaching – or the lack of coaching mistakes – becomes magnified. While Caldwell has had his share of gaffs, he now has a perfect opportunity to muzzel his critics by keeping the team competitive without Manning.
What will it take to earn the wild card? Most assume the team that finished 2nd in the AFC East (Pats or Jets) will get it. So the goal needs to be to finish first in our division, and the job starts on Sunday.
I love Manning, but am interested in seeing how the Colts will do with Earl Morrall – I mean Kerry Collins – will perform.
If the importance of coaching becomes magnified now,....
we’re in some serious shit.

Sexy Rexy’s fumbilitis should have booted him out of the NFL years ago, but we love him the same way you still go to the carnival. Just so long as he doesn’t play for us.

Painter wouldn’t be able to find a Superbowl if he was in Goodell’s limo with a police escort.

A little dark
I think thebossuzzi is right. The Colts will fight. We have talent outside of Manning, a lot of talent. And if our schedule were weaker, I think we could probably hit and 8-8 or 9-7 season. But it’s not. The Colts have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL and will bitterly struggle but unfortunately come up short because the football gods have decreed that the Colts play not only the Pats and the resurgent Chiefs but also the Saints, Falcons, Bucs, Steelers, and Ravens. Not to mention the AFC South, twice. If lucky, the Manning-less Colts will cobble togeather wins over the hapless Panthers and Bengals, possibly the rebuilding Browns, and if lucky split with the Jags and Titans. We’re looking at 3-5 win season.
So why is this dismal record a good point? All off-season I’d advocated that it was too soon to try and find a replacement for Manning because he was an iron man. IF he requires a thrid surgery on his neck, then it’s probable Manning doesn’t play out his contract. While I wouldn’t draft Landry Jones or Matt Barkley, if the Colts are in a position to draft Andrew Luck by finishing worse than the Bills (I don’t think the Bengals or Panthers would give up on Dalton or Newton after one season) then they should pull the trigger. If Luck is not available, then try to trade the pick to a team like San Francisco who needs a QB and grab a SECOND first round pick in the 2013 draft while STILL drafting the highest the Colts have since 2002 when they took Dwight Freeney with the 11th pick after going 6-10.
Manning the greatest of all time. He is an iron man and has revolutionized the game. But the Colts will struggle greatly without him because the offense was built around his unique abilities to read the defense and pick apart the scheme and the defense was built to play with a lead. However, in the event he doesn’t play the Colts will be in the unique position to either draft the best prospect since Peyton himself or load up the team with a few high draft picks for the final run.
Carolina and Cincinnati would pick Luck in a heartbeat and trade Dalton and Newton...
Going to need the worst record in league to get a once in a decade talent.
no they wouldnt
they are 2 moronic franchises, they’ll stick with Newton and Dalton for at least 3 years
We will battle the Dolphins in the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes
We Colts Fans Always Knew....
that the Doomsday scenario for the Colts would be an injured Peyton Manning. We all had that fear and all had pondered that idea a time or two. If you had never thought to yourself that the Colts were doomed if Peyton went down….you are kidding yourself.
So here we are….
I think that the Colts signing the Fullback from cut from Dallas means that they are going to change some of the offense around to fit Kerry Collins. Which to me means we will see alot of 2 back sets and alot of short passes. Can the Colts run the ball?
We shall see.
Colts run game
When I think of Colts RBs, I think of a bunch of pass-blocking 3rd down backs that you use on 1st and 2nd as well.
Whatever ability Addai has as a runner will be shadowed by how well Lollins can still play QB. If he sucks, expect teams to stack the box.
I am interested to see how your receivers do without Manning. I am of the belief that Manning can make a star athlete out of anyone. Look at Brandon Stokley.
Now we’ll get to see how Austin Lollie, Garçon, and Wayne do with a normal quarterback, and not the freak of nature that is Peyton Manning

Well, now we’re going to see the team Polian really put around Manning. And let me tell ya this, it aint pretty. Manning’s covered up a lot of deficiencies on this team, and if the Colts are a 2-14 team without Manning, Polian and Caldwell should be fired. Well, Caldwell should be fired regardless, but you get the point.

It's useless to argue that.
The same people claiming Polian is a genius will just say the team was intentionally built around Manning and it will only run smoothly with him at the helm. That will be the excuse. Regardless, at least we have a fighting chance to win games now, with Collins as back-up.

First off..
I’m not ruling Manning out till it is confirmed Gameday. Im not being naive just optomistic. Second off do you guys really think Manning will sit the whole year? an additional 16 weeks is a lot of time added on too a three month recovery from the surgery. That’s just not happening. And for all of you guys who want that early draft pick for Andrew Luck..I say we don’t need it. In my opinion a qb we could look at is Kellen Moore from Boise State. The kid is great and I’m not sure he is even a first round draft pick projection (which is really surprising). If you haven’t seen him in action look him up. I think the two knocks on him are that is only 6-1 and he plays in the Mountain West Conference. I can get over both of those.

I'm a big Kellen Moore fan, too.
Reminds me a lot of another Idaho boy called Jake the Snake. Hopefully, Kellen’s talents will translate to the NFL game a little better than Plummer’s did. Both of them know how to win, but I think Moore is a little more cerebrial.

If the worst happens
I am convinced there is at least a small chance Mannings nerve issues are not correctable and his career is over. If this is true, all Colts fans should unite and write to sports writers, NFL teams, anyone who is associated with the Hall of Fame. Lets honor Manning with making him exempt from the 5 year waiting period. Its the least we can all do.
I have spoken to a doctor who is involved with pain management. He is convinced there will be no operation because the risks would outweigh benefits. He also said there is no guarantee of complete regeneration, if any occurs its usually just partial. So fans, dont get hopes up too high if you read Manning will not need surgery,,,the reason he wont get it is because the technology doesnt exist yet to regenerate damaged nerves to a 100% level.
Also note, Colts dont necessarily need the worst record in NFL to get Luck in draft, There are a few bad teams heavily invested in young QB’s. Lets hope in any case, this convinces Polians to invest more heavily in an offensive line. I think most Colts fans would agree that the Colts best 3 OL from last year were Saturday, Johnson and Devann…they let 2 of the 3 go…real smart!
nobody has mentioned it yet.

Solution to your QB worries: Grab Adam Weber off of Denver's practice squad as soon as you can!
I’m serious guys. He’s caught in the mess that is Bronco politics. The kid is a serious player you could have for next to nothing and he’ll out play every QB you have except Manning.

I haven't been this impressed by a UDFA in years. Weber is the real deal. This guy is a poor man's Tom Brady
I haven’t heard veteran WRs talk about a no name kid like they have Weber EVER.I saw a clip of him in college roll out to the left and zip a perfect left handed pass to a blanketed WR in the endzone. Weber is right handed. Weber is smart as they come, tough and a high character guy. The bad side is no matter how good he is, it will take time to learn any NFL offense. Painter isn’t going to get it done. taking a flyer on Weber can buy you the time you need for Manning to get back. With Manning tudoring Weber, you have your next QB in the making.

I Agree...
The Colts certainly have been robbed in the draft over the past 3 or 4 years when it comes to skill positions and talent. I realize you have to add Defensive linemen and offensive linemen with every pick, right? And sprinkle in a LB and some DBs….and draft a tight end every damn year. Oh, and an “average WR on ocasion”….
They haven’t targeted a big play WR since Reggie Wayne. Some RBs have been a bust obviously. And I realize simply putting NFL bodies around Peyton works as he makes everyone on the offense better than what they would, say if they played for the Bears…could you imagine.
The Colts have alot to re-build on the scoring side of the ball in the near future.

I think 85% of the state, that knows anything about NFL football ( not the bandwagon fans)….so I guess that would be about 200,000 people tops, LOL, would:
A) Attempt to block the roads and airport to prevent these teams in.
B) Leave town to a location that so remote that there is no cable tv, internet, or possibility of seeing this game in our Stadium.
C) Drink self into a Coma.
dont worry, dallas wont make it
but the though of the Pats hoisting the Lombardi on our field brings vomit to my mouth
Maybe the Colts Could...
Borrow Maryland’s new Uniforms on Sundays….they might be good for an extra win or two when the opponent is amazed and dumbfounded. That would make the Colt’s record 5-11.

I hope Peyton recovers and is able to get back for you guys. I respect what Peyton has done before and will do in the future. Best QB ever, hands down.

Time to put up
One silver lining from PM injury, we swill find out who is right between the camp that says this Colt team has little to no big-time talent under the age of 30 or tyhe other camp that keeps telling us that we do have big-time talent under the age of 30. I’m in the first camp.Let’s see Antoine B.,Jerraud P.,Fila M. etc. step up to the plate and make plays. No more excuses. These games without PM will bethe ultimate referendum on the Bill P. drafts over the last 5 years. We will see without any doubt just how talented this Colt team really is this year.
Give a ltt'ol Wist'l
We are going to surprise with a strong run and keep the defense off the field so they are fresh. The wild card is that receiving talent that is still there. With a simplified offense will they still be posting the numbers we are used to? How much of a drop off? It will be interesting.

… I do feel bad for the guy. I have respect for Manning. He’s been a pro on and off the field.
While I’d never root for anyone to get injured (especially anything serious) there are certain guys in the NFL I wouldn’t feel bad for if they got hurt and couldn’t play.

Also your disdain for the steelers alone gets u an “OK” in my book, nice screen name!

My brother is also my twin so…
… I can’t help but not like to see him feeling bad.
Other Titan fans might not like it but if my team is out of the running, I support my brother’s team because if they win, it makes him happy. He does the same for me. Although back in 1999 the Titans beat Indy and made the Super Bowl, he rooted for my team to win, even though he was truly bummed out by the Colt loss.
Some people might not understand this but when you have a twin and when he is also the best friend you have in the world, you think a little different than most fans.
That said, when our teams play each other and are both in the hunt for the playoffs, we root for our own teams.
It also helps that we both despise the Steelers. Also the Patsys. Heck, I’d be known as “Patriot Hater” if they had been my team’s main rival back when I was a kid…

Just heard the news...
And as a Texans fan, I am not excited. First off, Peyton is an all around good guy and an incredible athlete. Although him sitting out will never mean a guarenteed victory for anyone, it sure as hell won’t give our new defensive scheme the trial by fire it so badly needs. Hope this doesn’t have long term effects for the guy, never want to see a hall of famer go out to injury…

Cheers - I've been enjoying the budding rivalry with the Texans
If I was a Texan fan, I would be wound up like a top with this home opener. If they lose to a Manningless Colts there will be chaos in Houston.

If the Texans lose to the Manning-less Colts…
… it won’t look good for Houston’s quest to steal the division title. Not good at all. It’s a must-win for Houston.
Then if Peyton’s out for a long time, my Titans may just win it themselves…

Texans went from a 1 point underdog to an 8 point favorite after Manning announcement
The pressure to win this game went from being on PM and the Colts to the Texans (magnified x10).

Well to be honest I still believe it's going to come down to Houston/Indy in the playoffs, Peyton or no Peyton...
Because after us two it’s the Hasselbeck led Titans and the Garrardless glitter kitties… So don’t worry too much.
