Jim Irsay told us at Stampede Blue that his tweets should be followed and deciphered almost as if they were code. This morning, he sent this tweet which, from my vantage, seems pretty straight forward:
NFL Season opens 2nite!We had a good practice yesterday and r guys r fired up 4 the season.#18's out for awhile, but compete,we will/BELIEVE
Irsay also went on record last night and tweeted this:
Peyton didn't have a medical procedure last sunday,we'll have more info 2 add clarity 2 situation soon
The last tweet seems to be in response to Jack Query of WNDE radio in Indy. Query reported, via sources he trusts, yesterday that Peyton had a procedure this past Sunday, and that his 2011 NFL season is over.
This is what I love about Irsay: When Adam Schefter asked the Colts to comment on Query's report, they didn't deny it. All that did was fuel the story even more. Peyton either had the procedure, or he didn't. There' is no gray area. And if he didn't, a short 'that report is not true' from the Colts ends the rumor. The Colts front office didn't do that.
But, in his tweet last night, Jim Irsay did. Thus, we get a little closure on this particular story.
The burden is now back on Query. Either Query's sources lied, or Jim Irsay is lying (or is ignorant on what his $90 million dollar QB was doing this past Sunday).
