Report: Jim Irsay Meeting With Polians And Jim Caldwell Tonight To Discuss Future Of Colts
The last time the Colts started a season 0-10 was 1997. The Monday after that season ended, owner Jim Irsay fired his general manager Bill Tobin and his head coach, Lindy Infante. This season, the Colts started 0-13, and Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star is reporting that Irsay is meeting tonight with team vice chairman Bill Polian, general manager Chris Polian, and head coach Jim Caldwell.
The meeting is to discuss 'the future' of the Indianapolis Colts.
Know one knows what will result from this meeting. It is worth noting that (to my knowledge) Bill Polian did not conduct his standard post-game interview with team broadcaster Bob Lamey following the Colts 19-16 loss to the Jaguars today. Presently, Jim Caldwell has his usual post-game press conference scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. If that press conference is canceled, that will tell us something is up.
As Wilson correctly noted in his report, if changes are coming in Indianapolis, we should expect them Monday. This probably includes any replacements for Bill Polian, Chris Polian, or Jim Caldwell.
Stay tuned.
[UPDATE]: Irsay tweeted this immediately following the Colts loss [emphasis mine]:
The season has ended and the heavy lifting begins to restore The Horseshoe to Greatness...it takes what it takes....

I say the tweet as well and was pretty excited.
However, I wouldnt be surprised if Irsay didnt fire anyone. If I was the owner, I would def fire the Polians and Caldwell now. I would assume that having the number 1 draft pick, and the opportunity to possibly be w/ the org when Manning was finishing his career would be a good incentive to lure a new GM and coach here. If Caldwell is the only one to get the ax then it will be same deal, different day at W 56th…
That's exactly what's going to happen.
They’ll swap out one puppet for another. Irsay’s predictable is nothing else.
Oh please please
be true. 2012 would definitely be off to a great start. Nothing would be better than having the Polians accompany him. Once again, here is the front office I would like to see:
President-Reggie McKenzie
V/P/GM-Floyd Reese
Director Football Aministration-Joe Hortiz
Director Player Personnel-Ron Hughes
Head Coach-Pete Carmichael Jr.
OC-Norv Turner
DC-Steve Spagnolo or Mike Singletary
Even though Norv sucks as a HC
He is pretty damn good as a OC, we cannot deny what he has done with the SD offense. I would be fine with him as a OC
I agree 100 percent with this
the Colts should go after Norv Turner for Offensive cord…Spagonolu for defensive coordinater and Jeff Fisher for head coach and pay up…..you have to pay for good coaches
wicker carmicheal is a joke…I would keep caldwell before having that guy…..they can get carmichael to fetch water and coffee though if they have a vacancy for that.
Are you suggesting that Irsay actually
hires based on merit? A novel concept with him.
Interviews
If Caldwell is gone I’d like these guys get a shot at the job: Fisher, Mike Zimmer, Perry Fewell, Joe Philbin, and for the out there choice Les Miles. I don’t know a whole lot though and how these guys would fit.
Caldwell is still human
So much excitement over a man losing his JOB. Yea change may have been needed but to be excited?
it's not like caldwell is 35 years old
and making 10 bucks/hr….

Agree
How would you feel if you lost your job and see other people cheering about it??? We know it was necessary, but let’s be respectful about it. Thank him for what he has done for this organization and move on.

...what he's done for the organization?
Really? He contributed to the losing of one superbowl and possibly kept us from getting to another? I think I’ll hold my thanks.
you're sounding like a jerk
He took us to the Super Bowl once, just like Dungy is. I know he’s not a great coach but I like him, if you saw him in post game with his team, he’s a really likeable guy
I'm not going to weep for a man that has a lot of money as an NFL coach.
It’s not as though he is going to be living on the streets.
If you want a better colts you cheer for the firing. Nice guy. Bad coach. So this year was so surreal I can’t even comprehend it. Praying for a manning/luck best case scenario. I want both. Can I have my cake and eat it too?

????????
If the polians make it out if that meeting…..well let’s wait….just wait…irsay will keep those three shits….and then trade manning
Hopefully is thinking straight….it is time draft big football players and no more dwarfs….it is becoming ridiculous

Honestly
I think Luck pulls an Elway if Caldwell and Manning are still there.
Why does Everyone hate Caldwell so much?
I’ve watched his post game interviews, and sme behind the scenes footage with his tema, and he seems like a really likeable guy. I don’t think he’s a great NFL coach, but everyone needs to cool it with FIRE CALDWELL. show some respect
