I have been reading over the blog and other reports that seem to believe that we are moving on past the Manning era in Colts football. And while there may be some truth to that, I think that all this talk is just a bit premature. I do agree that the organization is moving forward as a whole as they should. That to me is a good thing and says that a lot was learned from this past season. We were completely unprepared for life without Peyton and I don't think that Mr. Irsay wants to be in that same spot again. Yes, he seems to be preparing for the departure of Manning, but that doesn't mean this year. Why not get a new HC and staff, if they release Peyton he will be working with a new staff anyway. Why not draft the next QB? That doesn't mean we will kick our franchise player to the curb. It just means that we have to prepare as though #18 will never lace up his cleats again. Now is a perfect time to re-tool. You have to prepare for the possibility of a retirement or inability to play a full season and hope for a healthy return. Peyton is a smart enough guy to understand that and hopefully has prepared himself for it as well.
