Jim Tressel?

New HC?

I remember the Colts picking him up when he was out of Ohio State and put him somewhere in the front office after serving I think a 6 game suspension. Any possibility he ends up in one of our many coaching vacancies? I really don't know much about him other than he did create a powerhouse at Ohio State before the scandals crumbled his reputation. He may not even be with us anymore, it was hard for me to follow this team so closely this season. Also looking forward to April, I love Luck and hopefully the rest of the draft goes towards some legit interior lineman and secondary members, but what about Ryan Broyles? I love this kid and he just about broke every receiver record at OU before tearing his ACL. He might be a great 4th or 5th round receiver. Just a thought.

He was brought in as a Replay Assistant…whatever the eff that means. I have a feeling that maybe he was brought in by Polian who was a huge fan of Ohio State players/Coaches as a way to get a feel for the organization. I think he would be a great head coach. He is a winner. He has coached some really great players in this league and I think he would do a great job building a coaching staff from scratch. The only problem is that I think it’s going to be very hard to get a top flight coach in here until peyton either gets cut or retires. Who really wants a Quarterback Controversy on their hands right at the onset of their career with a new franchise?

If that is the only thing you can think of...

that’s sad. Give me an actual reason why Tressel would be a bad fit for a team in a rebuilding mode? Let me guess….You think a guy like Gruden or Fisher would be a better option?

HATE Fisher, 50/50 on Gruden. What NFL credentials does Tressel have? I’d like to see a Hard nosed defensive minded coach with NFL experience. If COLTS are truely going to start rebuilding, IT starts with defense and a running game!

I think he would be fine as a head coach, a good OC and DC and I can see him as a great team and game manager

Point is. YOU just like to argue with anyone who doe’s not have the same opinion as you! If Tressel doe’s nothing for me, that’s my opinion and I have that right. I do NOT have to explain myself to you. Tressel will stand on the sideline while his team falters and do NOTHING but stand there with his arms folded. I want a coach that puts fear into his players, that if they screw up they do NOT want to trot to the sidelines and face him. If you were talking WOODY HAYES! I would be onboard 100%!!!

I gotta agree with you.

There’s no reason for why he can’t. He’s a good coach, had like a .750 winning record at Ohio State. Coaches need to start somewhere, for all we know, he could be the next Jim Harbaugh.

Why the Tressel hate?

I don’t follow college much, why so much hate for Tressel. From what i’ve heard he or his players sold some memorbilia or something. How does that affect his coaching ability. I see “not interesting”? who cares if interesting, we need a winner that can motivate these guys. Sero\iously someone enlighten me.

Good luck to you. Same as you I’ve seen some of the hate towards the guy, most of it boils down to the ‘fact’ that we’re supposed to hate the whole memorabilia affair. I could care less about that. I would actually be interested to know if he’s a real coaching talent or not, by considering him for some assistant coaching role.

Interesting Idea.

I haven’t seen many Ohio State games but the few I’ve seen, they’ve played well in. If Jim Tressel can do what he did in college, then great, bring him on as HC, if he can’t well, close the door on your way out.

And @shoospa on what NFL credentials do Tressel have, well what credentials do Jim Harbaugh have for the 49ers to put so much trust into him? He was a serviceable QB in the NFL at best. Every coach has to start somewhere. If the Colts really are cleaning house, might as well fire Clyde Christensen and make Jim Tressel the OC.

i wouldn’t mind tressel as either the hc or oc. and i also wouldn’t be opposed to gruden coming in as hc with a GOOD dc….. and the guy from oregon might be an interesting fresh start if they want to start over and completely rebuild top to bottom…..
