WHAT ABOUT THIS TRADE ?
Wayne and Freeney to Detroit for a #1 and Nick Fairley
Detroit gets leadership and playoff experience , and of course great play. This move would make them a power house inthe NFC
We can end our never ending search for a NT. Plus a #1 to play with.
I still am a Gonzo fan, with him we have a trio of young wideouts that are very capable.
With Fairley we can finally get that push up the middle. And will have to create schemes to make up for the loss of Freeney. And i'm sure this move would help with cap space.
What trades would make ?

Trade Freeny to KC for Eric Berry

As a chiefs fan...
I dont like this trade, sorry.
Berry is still young and hopefully will recover well. I’m excided to see our “up-and-comming” defense with Berry back in it. Plus, depth at the saftey position is somthing I hope we address this offseason.
Also, Freeney, while a great pass rusher in the 4-3 defense, would probably hate playing in our style of the 3-4 defense, where the job of the DE, along with colapsing the pocket, is to eat up blockers for our linebackers to get at the qb/runner.
So would we(the chiefs) stand him up and put him in a LB spot? IDK. Seems to me he gets great leverage in the 3-point stance, and I dont know about how successful he would be after changing his technique by standing upright. Also, how good would he in pass coverage? IMO, square peg, round hole (AHEM, cough, Dorsey)
Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.

Not possible
I don’t think this trade could ever happen. The Lions have a pretty good D-Line: Avril, SUh, Vanden Bosch, and Fairley. They don’t need Freeney for their team.
The Lions could use Wayne but I doubt they would give up Fairley or a 1st even. Maybe a 2nd this year and a conditional one next. But even that is doubtful since the Lions already have some decent recievers (Burleson, Young), and a tank (Megatron).
The Lions would need quality secondary help and only for that would they give up Fairley and a 1st. The only guys the Colts can offer that fits that bill is Bethea. And the Colts cannot trade Bethea because he is the only good secondary player we have.
Decent Receivers????
Megatron is a boss and Burleson and Young are very good. We have very, very little need for what Reggie would bring.
I wouldn’t want Bethea because we have Delmas and Speviey is fine as it is.

Correction
If you looked at the parentheses you can see I only put in Young and Burleson. I distinguished Megatron. Burleson is not that great from what I’ve heard, he is decent. Young will become really good but is just a rookie right now so I said decent for him too.

Ok, thanks for the correction
Burleson isn’t great but he isn’t decent. I’d call him a very above average reciever. Young is currently at the same level as Burleson however he has so much potential.

Why would Lions accept?
Reggie Wayne’s contract ends anyways, Lions can just negotiate with them. Plus they already have Megatron, Burleson, and Titus Young, they might not even want Reggie Wayne a whole lot for his price.
There's only 1 true friend in life. Jack Daniels.
We would only want Reggie
If we got him CHEAP, like real cheap. For like a 1 or 2 year deal. Reggie is looking for one more big pay with atleast a 3 year deal.

Nothing short of a healthy Peyton would garner Fairley and their #1 this year.
Someone has been dreaming…
THIS TRADE CANNOT HAPPEN
Wayne is a free agent and can’t be traded. If Freeney is traded the Colts will take a $15 million dollar cap hit. It’s more likely the Colts extend his contract and reduce his cap hit.
thank you for being the realist!
These fantasies are getting on my nerves

Lions fan here
Won’t happen, Fairly is the future and we have very little need for Wayne. Freeny is getting old and despite him still being and elite DE I wouldn’t want him. This move totally benefits the Colts and give no long-term benefits for the Lions.
Won’t happen period.

How About Trading A 7th Rounder To The Lions For Matt Stafford And Calvin Johnson?
Since you are proposing ridiculously one-sided trades in the first place, then just go ahead and go all out.
Even if you ignore their advancing age and big contracts, you don’t seem to be aware that WR and DE are the strongest position groups for the Lions, where they have players as good as or better than Freeney and especially Wayne. The Lions don’t need more WRs and DEs, they need to get better at OL, RB and DB.
We could use a DE
But only a young one as an eventual replacement for Kyle Vanden Bosch. Biggest need is Oline. Running game is good when everyone is healthy.
