Worst Case Super Bowl Scenario

For a Colts fan could there be a worse matchup for a Super Bowl? Of course we want to support little brother, but if the Giants win the obnoxious New York media will spend the next two months babbling about how Eli is better than Peyton (which is obviously not true). Of course the alternative of watching Bill Belichick and Tom Brady raise another Lombardi Trophy is nauseating beyond belief and a feat that I had hoped was long behind us.

In the end, the Pats - Giants Super Bowl is a nightmare scenario for Colts fans and the Peyton legacy. It's a lose, lose situation, which is what I hope improbably happens. Can someone turn off the lights in the Luke?

Well the hooplah of the outrageous media regarding Eli when they DO win will be temporary but anybody with a brain knows Peyton is better than Eli. (I’m not discrediting Eli’s ability though) But if Pats win, that’s the dagger ESPECIALLY in the House Peyton built

Eli in Peyton's home.

Time for him to get it done again!!

I think the worst case scenario for Colts fans is the possibility that New England could win the Superbowl in our house which is sorta better than Baltimore winning it in our house. Peyton’s legacy is secure. Its a non issue. Anyone wanting to question who is better between Peyton and Eli needs their head examined.

As confused as a baby in a topless bar.

DISAGREE

I think it would have been great for the Ravens to come to Indy… because if they had won the SB, EVERY time they looked up at their banner hanging in their stadium, under Super Bowl Winner it would show the place “Indianapolis, Indiana”. Cannot think of a better thing to do to all those fans that hate the Colts for some old reason.

I think Jerry Gray and Jim Tressel are the front runners right now.

They are the only ones I’ve heard of having a second interview so far.

Gray was in a 6 hour interview on Friday.

I would much rather see some combination of Pete Carmichael and Mike Zimmer, but those are just my choices.

Bleedin' Blue for as long as I can remember. Can you believe we get to be fans while our team has the greatest QB of all time?!?!?!

Zim is a stud!

But he may be too brash to interview well. He would bring some fire and azz kicking to the sidelines. Tress would be my second choice. People need to grow up about his scandal. What he did was more stupid than anything else. He can flat out coach, Carrol left before USC got hammered and Kelly is leaving before Oregon gets hammered. CFB is grimey at the elite levels…

I don't agree

I hate new England but it would have been terrible for the city had Baltimore won…we would have to put up with irony (and the media would be all over it) of the ravens winning in Indy and giving Indianapolis the finger. This shouldnt be about the host city and it would have been had the ravens won.

Also other than perhaps new Yorkers, Boone believes Eli is better than Peyton.

by nighttrain551 on Jan 22, 2012 11:10 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Yeah

I am pretty sure however lousy that kicker feels, Kyle Williams feels twice as bad. He botched two returns that lead to half of NYG’s points. It’s probably pretty to safe to say that if Ginn had played, SF wins this game.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:37 PM EST up reply actions

No kidding

Though it wasn’t really Evans fault. The DB made an outstanding play. BAL really botched the end of that game if you ask me.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:36 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

He should have def. snagged it. But it’s not like he flat-out dropped it. I guess that’s what you get for going to Lee freaking Evans on the most important play of the game. I think the real reason the BAL lost the game though was because they completely took Rice out of the passing game, which basically killed possession after possession.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:40 PM EST up reply actions

I disagree

Peyton himself has said that watching Eli win a super bowl was more satisfying than winning one himself. The only downside is the retarded media talk of who is better, Eli or Peyton, which has already pathetically started anyway. Nothing is worse than the chance of the Patriots winning.

by daisymay_tr on Jan 22, 2012 11:23 PM EST reply actions

Screw the Pats

As much as I hate the Pats, this current incarnation is much easier to like than that ’07 team. That said, I still want them to and think they will, lose.

But how you can not be pumped about this game. There is primo talent on the offensive side for both teams, and a lot of talent of that D-line for NYG. Not to mention we will get to see 3 of the most exciting players in the game – NIcks, Cruz and Gronk. Trust me, the media was licking its chop at this possible outcome for some of the same reasons why I am actually going to enjoy watching this game.

While it was fun to see SF be relevant again and easy to root for Harbaugh, watching their offense was akin to watching paint dry. Aside from big plays to Vernon Davis, which make you wonder why they haven’t utilized him more, there really wasn’t anything else going on. BAL is even worse. Face it, the NFL is all about the long ball, and we now get to see two of the best teams sling it around for 48 mintues.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:32 PM EST up reply actions

It's a 60 minute game, btw.

And despite your bias, how can you omit Tom Brady from this sentence:

Brainfart on my part for getting the time wrong

But I did mention that both teams have primo talent on the offensive side of the ball, the elite QB play is included and implied. And no I did not omit Brady or Eli on purpose. I am sorry but pocket-passing QBs are not among the most exciting players in the game. They might set up the exciting plays, but that is all. Brady and Eli rarely extend plays with their feet. They rely on their pocket presence and protection to run through their progressions and then pass the ball. What is exciting about that?

by shastamasta on Jan 23, 2012 2:56 PM EST up reply actions

That was the first one the second one is another story and before him?

by CF4L on Jan 22, 2012 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

No way

This is the best possible outcome in my book. We get to watch two of the better offenses in the league do their thing, with some defense stepping it up in the playoffs. Plus, its a rematch of one of the better games I have ever seen, not just Super Bowl games but of all time. I would venture to say that this NYG team is more talented than that team and NE, while more talented, is not as good as that ’07 team. So I think we will see a good game with the final score:

NYG 27 – NE 20

QB's get too much credit

Both the Patriots and Giants defense came up huge in these games. Pats DB knocks the go-ahead TD lose and Giants D gives Eli 2 short fields starting inside the 25 yardline and thats where he gets 10 out of their 20 points.

Despite all that, it’s gonna be about the QB’s… for better or worse

by badtimeoutcaldwell on Jan 22, 2012 11:31 PM EST reply actions   1 recs

Agree

But in the Super Bowl, it’s going to be all about the QB play, because on a neutral field in a dome, both teams will be able to sling it around.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:34 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe...

I’m just tired of hearing all the “Tom Brady and Eli are clutch” talk.

Peyton has the statistically better post-season stats than Brady, but Peyton keeps losing. I don’t think it’s his fault. It usually comes down to defesnsive performaces.

Pats D gave up an average of 16 points during all their post-season wins… Giants D give up 14.6 points during Eli’s post-season wins…

Peytons D has given up about 22 PPG over his entire post-season career. If he too had his D giving up 14-16 PPG over 16 playoff games, he’d be much better than 9-10 in the playoffs too

by badtimeoutcaldwell on Jan 22, 2012 11:47 PM EST up reply actions

Oh yeah I agree

The media and many fans often overlook how dominant Eli and Brady’s D has been during their playoff runs. Brady was basically a game manager in those 1st 2 superbowls. Actually, what Alex Smith has done this year is very comparable to what Brady did in those years. Eli as well. Eli as well.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:50 PM EST up reply actions

True about Brady

But you’re not giving Eli enough credit – As much as victories should not be placed on any individual, as the QB, he won that game for the Giants

Brady was cushioned by the fact that he had OT to save him if he failed to secure points in those first two SBs – And of course, he had Vinatieri to kick those FGs – Brady and the Pats have been monumentally lucky in not knowing what it feels like to have dreams shattered by bone-headed kickers a la Colts/Ravens fans

For Eli, it was a TD or nothing and he had to march the length of the field to get it done – Seriously, that drive was the greatest in SB history because of the way it played out and because it was the only ever SB where the QB needed to get his team a TD to win the game

Now that’s effing clutch

by manningtoharrison on Jan 23, 2012 2:47 AM EST up reply actions

WTF?

Peyton statistically better than Brady post-season??? Um, not even close… but I do agree with the rest of your post, and would add that Matt Cassel playing behind Brady’s O-line won 11 games, where Collins, Painter and Orlovsky playing behind Manning’s O-line managed just 2!!! Give Manning time and he’s a surgeon! The fact he’s taken this team to the playoffs as many times as he has with a lesser O-line is a testament to how great he really is!

by James Busch on Jan 23, 2012 9:13 AM EST up reply actions   3 recs

The Ravens exposed Brady again

they showed that the key to defeating him is to get in his face. I think the Giants can successfully do this with Pierre Paul and Tuck. Additionally, the Giants WR corp will have a field day against the Pats secondary. If Evans had just held onto the ball they would have taken alot of the blame for the loss. Brady had like a 57 quarterback rating while Flacco had a 98 or something similar. The Giants can beat them again. Honestly, the whole Eli vs Peyton argument is dumb.

by Odin1980 on Jan 22, 2012 11:41 PM EST reply actions

Nothing new

This has always been the key to beating him. He can’t withstand pressure and remain poised in the pocket. His O-line has been so good, so consitently often, that he has what seems like days to throw. Getting is his face and knocing him around rattles him, every time.

"I throw, you catch. It's NOT that hard!"

by IN-to-VA on Jan 23, 2012 10:17 AM EST up reply actions

One thing I noticed

The amount of talent on the NYG is flat out ridiculous. It’s really hard to believe that they were only able to muster up a 9-7 record. I guess injuries had something to do with that, but still. It makes me shake my head in frustration when I compare the amount of talent on NYG, hell all four teams for that matter, to the amount of talent on the Colts. I can’t think of one position where we would have an advantage over them, except possibly FS.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:47 PM EST reply actions

That was last year

A lot has changed since then. I am speaking in terms of this season. And yes, we bombarded them in week 2 or 3? of last season, that’s like 2 seasons ago. This season’s Giants team has added Cruz, Aaron Ross, Amukamara, Pierre-Paul with Nicks coming into his own. The fact remains that they are far more talented at this point in time than the Colts and they are going to the Super Bowl and the Colts have the 1st pick in the draft.

Lets not beat around the bush here...

The Pats road the SB wasnt exactly difficult. Broncos and then the inconsistent Ravens, both at home.

by Odin1980 on Jan 22, 2012 11:50 PM EST reply actions

Yep

As much as it pains me to say it, it is very similar to the Colts’ Super Bowl run in ‘06. Most fans won’t admit that the Colts were gift-wrapped that Super Bowl, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was one of the easiest roads any time has ever faced. If SF had beaten NYG, then it would have been nearly identical.

by shastamasta on Jan 22, 2012 11:53 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed. The Colts beat the Bears in the SB.

But, if I were a Pats fan, I would be a little concerned that they almost (should have) lost at home and that the Giants beat both the Pack and the 49ers on the road.

by Odin1980 on Jan 22, 2012 11:54 PM EST up reply actions

On the flip side

This was a bad game by Pats standards. Brady threw three picks and had no TD passes. Flacco had a better day. We made 5 trips to the red-zone and came away with 2 TDs. For us, thats as bad as it gets.

And yet, we won. What are the chances we have a similar performance next game? As a Pats fan I would have much, much rather played the 49ers, but can remain cautiously hopeful about the Giants. I’m hoping this game got the sloppyness out of the way, but I still can definitely see either team winning.

by Odin1980 on Jan 23, 2012 12:00 AM EST up reply actions

Yes

But he had 6 TDs against DEN, so I think the answer lies somewhere in between. You of all people should know that NE had what amounted to a pretty weak schedule this year. Outside of PIT and the Jets twice, they didn’t face many good defenses, least of all ones with the pass rushing capabilities of NYG and BAL.

???

Colts had to go to K.C. and shut down Priest Holmes, they had to go to Baltimore and shut down Jamal Lewis, then had to overcome a 21-6 first half defecit against the Pats at home to make it to the Super Bowl.

As for “gift-wrapped” is that how you describe a pick-six early, and a game clenching INT to end the game? I think the Colts Defense stepped it up in the playoffs that year and WON those games! Championships aren’t given to the best team each season, they’re earned by the team playing the best ball at that time! Like Dominick Rhodes hitting the seams and gaining chunks on the Bear D that hadn’t allowed that kind of success all season!

by James Busch on Jan 23, 2012 9:26 AM EST up reply actions

We had to beat the Patriots and @ the Ravens to get to the SB

How is that gift-wrapped. Plus the Bears went 13-3 or something that year. I agree I wasn’t exactly scared of them because of that offense, but they were this year’s version of the 49ers.

by Coltsfan1345 on Jan 23, 2012 12:17 AM EST up reply actions

It was gift-wrapped

Here’s why. It was a down year for NE and that team was not nearly as good as other NE teams that the Colts faced in the playoffs. In fact, their starting WRs were Jabar Gaffney and Reche Caldwell. They won their games with a stout defense and good ground game/game management. Brady only threw for 3,200 yards and 24 TDs – a very pedestrian season by his standard. (It was after this season, that they acquired Welker, Moss and Stallworth.) In the playoffs, they upset the Chargers, who was the top seed and best team, not to mention they had the Colts’ number. But the Colts were able to avoid having to play them. Then, in the Super Bowl, they got to face the Bears, who are very similar to the 49ers this season. You can only beat the teams in front of you, but there is no way you can’t see the correlation between the Colts’ only Super Bowl and the rest of the playoff runs. They had an easy path and they were able to capitalize on it. Much like 2009, except in 2009 they couldn’t finish the job.

by shastamasta on Jan 23, 2012 3:19 PM EST up reply actions

It wasn’t similar at all – the only similarity would be this Ravens game where Manning and Brady both played like crap and still won

Gift wrapped the SB? LOL

The Pats didn’t win an epic AFCCG like the Colts did – Manning decimated all doubts about his legendaryness in that come from behind by 18 points win in the AFCCG AGAINST THE PATS

That isn’t a gift-wrapping – that’s earning your rite of passage

by manningtoharrison on Jan 23, 2012 2:29 AM EST up reply actions

It's not as similar now

But if the 49ers had won, it would have been very similar. I am not discounting that Super Bowl for Manning but it was a down year for the NFC and a unusually weak NE team upset SD, giving the Colts a pass on playing them. This year, the two best teams in the NFC, GB and NO, were beat so that makes the NFC much weaker than it was, like that 06 season. DEN upsets PITT, giving NE a much easier opponent, like the Colts faced in 06. If SF had won this game, it would have been eerily similar.

They should def. be concerned

The Giants have their number, whether they will admit it or not. Plus, they are playing great football right now. They have the D to get in Brady’s face and the O to shoot it out with him. Actually, this will be the only good offense NE will face in these playoffs so it will interesting to see what they do. The Patriots lucked out in missing out on PITT and HOU, two teams that I think could have beaten them, especially HOU. But that luck has run out.

I can't stomach the

Patriots winning the SB on our home field. That would be a nightmare. I’m beyond pissed that the Pats lucked the fuck out in that game, as they have all year. Beaten 1 team over .500 all year and now they’re going to the SB. Pathetic.

It’s going to be annoying when the media keeps saying Eli has more super bowls than Peyton, but let’s go Giants.

by Coltsfan1345 on Jan 23, 2012 12:07 AM EST reply actions

Yes it will

But one silver lining will be that this game, whether Eli or Brady wins, will motivate Peyton like nothing ever has. If there was ever a chance of him coming back and competing for more Super Bowls, this game will leave any doubt he had at the wayside. Maybe he will be so motivated that he is willing to take a nice pay cut or restructure his deal so that Irsay can surround him with some talent so that he can take another crack or two at it.

by shastamasta on Jan 23, 2012 12:12 AM EST up reply actions

Think about it

He will either have to watch Brady win another ring or his little brother upstage him and win his 2nd. To make matters worse, this is going to happen on his stomping grounds.

I highly doubt Peyton thinks like that

You know if he can’t win it than there’s no one he’d rather see win it than his brother. He doesn’t think of it as upstaging – I’m sure he’d love to see him win it.

Exactly

Manning is a competitive guy and of course he thinks like this. Maybe upstaging is too strong of a word, but he def. notices it. He can be happy for his little brother, but he still wants to be better than him.

by shastamasta on Jan 23, 2012 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

Peyton’s legacy isn’t going to be tied to super bowl wins, plenty of people beat him there, its always been about the constantly high level of play, revolutionizing no huddle, and carrying his team (4 MVPs, 2-14 without him, etc). Eli having more rings isn’t going to change that.

Lets go Giants.

by mythx on Jan 23, 2012 1:13 AM EST up reply actions

Marino played in a different era

It’s hard to compare QBs from different eras and this is silly anyways. But you can compare QBs of the same era. And in this era, Peyton will be compared to Brady, Big Ben, Rodgers and Eli, if Rodgers and Eli win another ring.

Dan Marino’s legacy has always been the greatest passer ever, but he could not win the big one. And since Peyton has only one ring, his legacy, much like Marino’s, will seem unfulfilled.

by shastamasta on Jan 23, 2012 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

What?

Have you been paying attention to the last 10 years? Manning’s legacy has been constantly compared to Brady’s, and the main argument is Super Bowl rings. If you really believe that Manning’s legacy will not be tied to Super Bowl wins, then I can’t help you. All of those other achievements are great and will be mentioned at his HOF induction ceremony, but it has and will always be about the rings.

by shastamasta on Jan 23, 2012 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

Now don't take this wrong

I am not saying that Manning’s legacy SHOULD be tied to Super Bowl wins. I am just being pragmatic about this. I love Peyton and think he is the greatest. But I just don’t see how people won’t look back on his career and feel that he and the Colts didn’t accomplish as much as they should have. I know I will.

What was the score like 16-6 or something when they played on Thanksgiving. I’m sorry, but seeing 2 strong defenses with marginal offenses play is just boring. NYG and BOS fans are who they are and they will always look down on us, but their two teams happen to be the most exciting teams left in the playoffs with some recent history, so it should be a fun game to watch. Plus, as much I hate Brady, I would rather watch he and Eli play than Alex Smith and Joe Flacco. Some of the NYG/BOS fans might suck but their elitist money spends like any other and they have a lot of it. Plus, the media hype will make this one of, if not, the most viewed Super Bowl evah, all of this is great for the city of Indianapolis and even the Colts.

Damn!

Where was I when they were handing out all that elitist money? Must have been working. Damn.

Keep the faith!

I feel for you guys... But here's something to consider:

Besides rooting for the Cowboys, a few over at Blogging the Boys have taken to rooting for a second team when the ‘Boys aren’t playing, or when two rivals face off in important games:
Just hope for a meteor to strike, thus ending the existence of both teams. It’s a win/win.
Do it. Root for the meteor.

Eli’s success shows, how much the Colts sucked for years in building a talented team.
Brady’s shows, how much the Colts coaches sucked for years.

I hope the Giants pull it off again

It would hurt me alot if the Patriots won the Super Bowl here in Indy. I don’t care if Eli gets more rings than Peyton, it would be good for a Manning to win here at the Luke, regardless if it’s Peyton or Eli.

GO GIANTS!!!!!

Exactly.

Anyone but Brady and Belichick. And I mean ANYONE…

NE in the Super Bowl...

…makes me want to barf. I was absolutely cheering for the Ravens. I have a lot of respect for that team and it’s a shame that Flacco outplays Brady and he can’t catch a break at the end. Perfect pass to Evans and then Cundiff absolutely chokes. And the whole Baltimore-to-Indy isn’t really a big deal. The Colts have owned the Ravens, so if they earned a little shine, so what?

On the other hand, Tom Brady playing for a ring in the house Peyton built is absolutely rage-inducing lol. But thankfully, you couldn’t pick a better person/team to “defend” the Luke than Eli and the Giants.

Every sane individual on this planet knows that Peyton is light-years ahead of Eli. But still, the guy does deserve his credit. He’s a road warrior and if he wins another ring, I’ll be very happy for him.

That said, go Giants on Super Sunday.

Oh.

I should emphasize that the Baltimore-to-Indy events aren’t a big deal for myself. There is definitely some lingering animosity for a few older Baltimore fans and rightfully so.

The only nightmare scenario would be if the Pats won – If that happened, Brady would be crowned by everyone beyond all doubt as being the best QB ever – He would have the same amount of rings as Montana and better stats

Just the thought makes me want to puke

Call it the Dilfer-Marino Corollary….But if Eli wins, even with more rings compared to Peyton, no sane and reasonable football fan would ever consider Eli to be greater than Peyton

So yea…Eli better win

by manningtoharrison on Jan 23, 2012 2:16 AM EST reply actions

On the other hand if Giants win, Brady's legacy takes a huge hit

Media will mention Eli, as the guy who is kryptonite to Brady…..

by Ty46 on Jan 23, 2012 3:21 AM EST reply actions

Regardless, Indy's a BIG winner as SB host

The world-wide exposure, the infusion of $$$. I hate the Pats but am more than happy that they’ll be spending their chowder money in Indy. Every case of Sam Adams should come with a free box of Kleenex to mop up their post-SB tears…Go Giants

No Way Man!

You are towing the party line of negativity. Watching a Manning beat Brady and the Pats is well, refreshing. You just hang in there, it’ll be o.k.
Save the whining for some really bad news, like say Tressel as head coach, or Manning retiring or something truly sad.

I happy that two money-rich fan bases will be coming to my fine city and spending big bucks

and it will be sweet to see Brady lose in Indy!

COMPLETELY DISAGREE

By far the WORST case would have been Baltimore coming to Indy…hands down.
If you are a loyal Colts fan, and have been to every game over the past five or so years, you would know that the white-trash from Baltimore is FAR worse that New York/Boston fans. The worst matchup would have been Baltimore/Jets. These fans are rude, trashy, and flat out garbage.

You have got to admit, New England at least wins w/ class (with the exception of the whole spygate thing).

Who's the "Home Team?"

I don’t want Belichek near our locker room. He’ll probably bug it.

Moore should have been flagged for pass interference on that last throw before the field goal attempt. You don’t grab a receiver by the back plate of their pads and pull yourself around to the front to get a hand on the ball. He was on the back right side of the Raven receiver, and was able to (while falling to the left), get his left arm around said receiver.

Earlier in that same drive, when the Raven ball-carrier was tackled by #11 on the sideline, you could see, blatantly, #11 pumping said ball-carriers head into the ground well. Should have been a personal foul.

Pats got lucky, and the refs didn’t do their job.

AFC is home for Super Bowl XLVI

Praying that the ghost of Peyton Manning doesn’t let Brady ring at our house. Or maybe Eli will just take care of business and let Manning’s ghost rest in peace, which probably means haunting Belichick with failed 4th and 2 calls for eternity.

by ATX Colts Fan on Jan 23, 2012 9:53 AM EST up reply actions

Unacceptable...

The Pats should never be allowed into out locker room.

Nightmare matchup for Colts and especially Manning fans.

One positive is that Brady’s performance should’ve added a nail to the coffin for QB wins being a meaningful stat.

eli v. peyton

im voting for eli. there is no way they could say eli is better than peyton when eli has one of the best defenses in the league

by coltsftw on Jan 23, 2012 10:55 AM EST reply actions

Except they will because like it or not championships matter otherwise Marino would be more celebrated than Montana but he’s not.

by CF4L on Jan 23, 2012 11:09 AM EST up reply actions

he will maybe have one more … not 15

by coltsftw on Jan 23, 2012 11:26 AM EST reply actions

Last Week on PTI

They brought up the question who was better right now. begrudgingly they both said Peyton was but that it was close and getting closer. And that if Eli won another Superbowl and Peyton doesn’t come back than that would have to mean Eli is better, because that is what is important Superbowl wins.

So which media pundits believe Terry Bradshaw is the greatest QB ever? yeah, I don’t either.

by JCub3d on Jan 23, 2012 11:35 AM EST reply actions

Yeah, except that Eli didn't

have to deal with the monumental incompetence of Polian. That kind of a handicap changes the whole reality of it.

it shouldnt just be a about superbowls

by coltsftw on Jan 23, 2012 12:01 PM EST reply actions

You mean...

you should not compare super bowl wins when determining who is better at one position when teams have a 53 man roster?? that is ridiculous!

by JCub3d on Jan 23, 2012 1:06 PM EST up reply actions

What "legacy"??

>Giants Super Bowl is a nightmare scenario for Colts fans and the Peyton legacy.<

LMAO! Peyton is no better than Trent Dilford…

You don’t agree? So, where are the rings, eh??

by Curtis LeMay on Jan 23, 2012 1:57 PM EST reply actions

What!?

I don’t know if you’ve ever played a sport or taken part in any activity that requires a team effort. But to win a SB you need players that can play well on O and D. Peyton’s never had a shut-down D or clutch kicker like Brady did in the early 2000’s. Peyton’s always had a harder time getting an SB because of the weak supporting cast he has had to deal with for many years.
And to compare him to Trent Dilfer is just ignorant. Peyton Manning is easily top 5 all time and can fight for the #1 spot with a couple more great seasons.

by indycolts21 on Jan 23, 2012 8:43 PM EST up reply actions

What better poetic justice than for Peyton's little bro to beat up on Brady?

Since Peyton wasn’t able to do it this year, Eli will step in and do it for him. It will still be Manning vs Brady in Indy. Only this time Manning will be wearing a slightly darker blue.

by the_iowa_hawkeye on Jan 23, 2012 3:22 PM EST reply actions

Can someone give me a reasonable cause as to why Peyton Manning is better than Montana and Brady? I have given explanations to co-workers, families, and friends but they are still abide by that stupid notion that rings make you good.
