Where would Colts fans like to see Peyton Manning?

Dolphins fan here. We've gotten reports of teams interested in Manning, and let's just assume the Colts let him go and assume he gets back to full health. So...where would you like to see him end up if he's not retired and not a Colt? Or where do you think he'll end up?

Miami Dolphins - Your former rivals, and the team most desperate for a QB since Peyton's friend Dan Marino retired (get on the phone with him Marino!). Dolphins are under the salary cap unlike some of the other teams mentioned, and don't have a lot of money tied up in the QB position. We also play in Indianapolis this year...how would you like to see Manning-Luck in Indy in primetime? Dolphins of course play the Patriots twice a year, so Colts fans would have something else to cheer for...sweeping the Patriots and keeping them from the playoffs. I would certainly love to see what Manning would do with Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall. Advantage of warm weather, which is enticing for a player coming off of an injury. Steven Ross is looking for a superstar QB, and would open the checkbook more than anyone else.

Washington Redskins - They always spend big, but would he want to make a deal with Dan Snyder? They are in the opposite conference of the Colts, so some fans might like that.

Arizona Cardinals - Well they paid a ton of money for Kevin Kolb, so disadvantage there. But they are interested apparently. What an unexciting destination though.

New York Jets - They are over the salary cap, so it seems unlikely they can do it, would have to restructure some contracts. Not only did they give Sanchez a big contract, they gave up draft picks for him. And their locker room is just one big uncontrolled soap opera, with infighting. And why would he want to play in the same stadium as brother Eli Manning?

Those are the big 4 that have been mentioned, but I imagine the Browns, Jaguars and Seahawks could be interested.

I know I'm biased, but I can't help but imagine the Dolphins have a better foundation than the Redskins and Cardinals, the other two big favorites. And the Jets are just a mess.

I know Colts fans idally still want him

But they will probably move on. The 49ers did the unthinkable and traded away Joe Montana when they had Steve Young. It happens.

After seeing Brett Favre at 40 in the NFC Championship game and Tom Brady now in the Super Bowl, just 1 year younger than Manning, I don’t think he will retire unless it’s because of his injury.

I like Miami and Arizona

Kevin Kolb’s contract isn’t a huge deal especially with a team that’s quite under the cap. I think Manning might be able to take Jeff Saturday and Reggie Wayne with him if he does decide to go to another team or gets cut. I can’t see the Jets or Redskins, but I can really see the Cardinals. They already have Todd Heap and Larry Fitz and if Manning can bring some of his weapons with him, they can have a powerful offense. Plus, Arizona plays in a dome.

Miami is a good option too, but I think Manning wants another Super Bowl run, and no offense, Miami just isn’t the team for a run. Manning would be better off with Arizona.

Seattle, unfortunately is one of my favorite teams. I would love to see Manning in a Seahawks jersey. Tarvaris Jackson is serviceable at best, but I did see some improvement this season compared to when he was at Minnesota. Manning could do work in Seattle with Sidney Rice, Ben Obomanu, Doug Baldwin, Zach Miller, and John Carlson, and a powerful running game with Lynch. Plus, Seattle has a fairly decent defense.

There's only 1 true friend in life. Jack Daniels.

Cardinals do have a lot to offer

But I do think anyone could contend with him. The Colts went from a super bowl contender to 2-14 without him, I expected something like 5-11 to 7-9. Little changes can make a big difference, nobody expected the 6-10 2010 49ers who hadn’t had a winning season since 2002 to come within a 2011 OT special teams blunder away from the Super Bowl.

I think ideally, Colts fans would like to see Manning hang it up and walk away rather than wear another jersey.

If that’s not what happens, we want to see him in the NFC. Arizona is probably the best bet since they have the best foundation.

If Manning leaves

If Manning leaves the Colts and plays somewhere else, we will become irrevelant on the national scene. We will get a look in or two on Luck next year, but that is it. If we don’t start winning next year or, at worse, the following year, it will be a while for the Colts to become revelant on the national scene. If Manning retires, that will also take us off the national scene, although it would not be as bad if Manning were to go somewhere else. The NFL is still about star QB’s, and if you don’t have one, it is hard to get attention. Rookie QB’s have a very small window to start winning, otherwise they are forgotten and just become another player in this league. If Manning is healthy, it would be to the Colts advantage to transition to Luck while we are winning with Manning (if he is healthy). Forget about high draft picks, the hardest thing to do in sports is to create a winning atmosphere and continue it for a long period of years. If we gut our team to rebuild, all of winning tradition we created over the last 13 years is gone. Rebuilding that will not be easy. Luck’s chances to be a star QB are much higher if he sits behind Manning for at least a couple of years. He can get plenty of playing time behind Manning and learn about the NFL, as opposed to taking massive amounts of punishment playing for a rebuilding team.

If Not in Indy

I would love to see him play for a SB contender with a good O Line, and D. I would personally have preferred the 49ers but that obviously will not happen: 1. A. Smith has proven he can be a decent starting Qb 2. Cap Space Problems.
In that case I would prefer a AFC team (that will not play Colts next year) rather than a NFC team. I just think it would be easier for Manning to get to a SB in AFC than NFC. The AFC’s really good teams are: Pats, Ravens, Steelers (Bengals, Texans, and Jets have work to do before they can pose a big threat to those 3). NFC has: Packers, Saints, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, 49ers, Lions, Falcons (Bears are a possibility as well). The NFC has more talented teams. I want Peyton to secure his legacy as the all time greatest and it would be in the best interest of Manning to go to a good AFC team.
Some possible and favorable teams:
The Jets are obviously a circus but Peyton could bring a lot of stability (people have confidence in him) and they are more talented than the Dolphins.
The Fins are not a bad idea as well they have a good Offense. Their D could use some more talent but that can be addressed through the draft for them (since this year is loaded with D talent).
The Redskins would definitely be willing to pay him. They have a really good front 7 and could improve immensely through some secondary acquisitions. The Offense features two good TE’s in Cooley and Davis. I don’t really know too much about the O-Line but I know that the T. Williams was drafted a couple years back. I don’t think he is a bust (idk).

None

As much as I want Peyton to stay in Indy, I don’t think it would be good for him, given how little time he has left and how far Indy has to go to get back to the SB. I also am not sold on Alex Smith. I think he looked freaked out at times last night. Was he 0-11 on third downs at one point? I think Peyton would be great in SF, although after hearing what crummy fans they have, I am kind of back-tracking. They have a tough D, great TEs, great run game, good line, their receivers are not bad. I think Peyton would put them over the top, and I’m not certain Smith can. I could be wrong. I don’t follow SF that closely, but I think I have a point.

This Colts fan would like to see Manning in Indy Blue

Colts will survive without Manning.
If he’s not in Colt’s Blue I could care less where he ends up, although I will still love to watch him play. Don’t expect me to become an instant fan of the Phins.
By the way I’m going to chose your comment about Bush/Marshall as a slight. Lack of weapons has not limited Manning’s career. The Colts have had their share of talent during Manning’s reign.

Indy or Retired!

Peyton Manning will NEVER! REPEAT NEVER! Play for another team other than the COLTS. If HEALTHY he will return to the contract Irsay gave him. If he is NOT cleared because of his injury! He will retire and become an anylist or possibly get into coaching as QB coach or OC for someone. Lets face it, does he really need anymore money from another team? And if healthy do you really think Irsay is letting him go anywhere? I for one don’t!!

If not in Indy...

Then definitely in Miami.

Miami is more talented than Indianapolis at almost every position. Significant upgrades on the O-Line and Secondary. A young stud in Brandon Marshall – with some capable WR’s behind him (Hartline, Bess). Reggie Bush is an explosive RB who can catch 60+ passes.
Not too sure about their front-7 outside of C. Wake, but I’m sure it can be addressed in the off-season if need be.

Also, this would allow P. Manning to kick Brady’s ass twice a year and would allow Manning to play on a MUCH better ALL-AROUND team than the one he’s had in Indy for most of his career. It’s a warm-weather team, which never hurts either.

If not Miami, I’d vote for Arizona for the sheer fact that Manning and Fitzgerald could break all the records that Brady/Moss set in 2007. Fitz can catch 85/1300/10 with a backup QB throwing him the ball, imagine what he’d do with the G.O.A.T.

Manning in Miami

If I’m the Dolphins GM, I’d think twice before hiring Peyton Manning – unless of course they intend to put a dome over the stadium. Manning has played over half of his football games within the controlled environs of an indoor stadium. Not sure what his won/lost record is in Miami but, he’s a different quarterback when he plays outdoors. Mannings playoff record: 18 starts – 9 wins. Inside he’s 6 – 4, Outside he’s 3 – 5

At his age, with his injury and the outdoor home arena – I’d pass on Peyton and his big salary and go for Matt Flynn instead.
