Dont bet against Peyton Manning
How many times has the guy proven it to us in the past? If we are down 3 TDs with 4 minutes left you were stupid if you turned off the tv (or left the stadium). Manning has proven time and time again that you should never close the curtain on him, no matter the odds. This injury is no different. Don't count him out. I don't care if he isn't 100% by the March 8 deadline. If I'm Irsay, I look back on history and bet the house that you will get a few more great years out of him.
The media, a significant portion of the fan base, and to an extent, this blog are ready to move on in the spirit of rebuilding with Andrew Luck. I don't care what they do with the draft pick, but #18 better be in a Colts uniform next year.
Somebody needs to put up a billboard in downtown Indy (Tim Tebow style) saying "We want Manning". Its ridiculous that some many people are willing to write him off so easily.

No question...
The last time he played he was the best to ever play the game. What does that mean going forward?
He was never the best athlete—best arm of best legs. Does he really need to be 100% to be Peyton Manning?
I think you play him if he comes back healthy. He doesn’t need to come back age 25. If he doesn’t get football healthy, you have to let him go. You don’t let a healthy Peyton Manning go. That’s incredibly stupid. The chances of getting another Peyton Manning—a guy who can take a high school team to the NFL playoffs—are incredibly impossible. The Colts are a small market team. Manning makes them a cheap team. With Manning, you can use a defense off the McDonalds dollar menu. He’s brilliant. That’s much better than simply great.
If Manning is gone, I don’t see the Colts being good even with Luck. If I’m Jim Irsay and Manning can play, I use him for another 4 years, let him retire on his own, and move the team to a larger market. This isn’t football country. This is Manning country.
Move the team?
What are you a rookie? What sense does it make to move a team that built a new stadium within the past three years? That new stadium guarantees the colts for at least the next 20 years.
Manning built the stadium
Manning filled the stadium. When he leaves, we’ll be back to having trouble getting 400,000/year in those seats.

Stop all the dumb ass talk..if Luck or Manning or RGIII wins the stadium will be packed but
If we lose, we will become like any other losing team. This team can and will survive without Manning. Manning is a great QB, but he is owed nothing. People have no idea how Luck is going to be, but every Manning fan wants to say he will suck..let’s wait and see.
No...
we’re just saying a new college QB is an unknown. It would be great if Luck comes in and spends 14 years filling the stands. As small as the Indy market is, he better. This isn’t Steelers Nation or Green Bay. This year with the Colts losing, I didn’t see many Colts flags on houses and cars.
The point of this thread is not about Luck, it’s about Manning. We know what a healthy Manning brings, and we want another 4 years of that.
Well at least the stage is set
If luck sucks he can just say, you got what you expected. I’m still yet to see any #1 drafted QB aside from the Manning brothers that has lived up to it. Matt Ryan not even close, Jamarcus is a bust, Matt Stafford spent more time on the bench, Ditto with Sam Bardford, Alex Smith is 4 years in still with questions, Carson Palmer was never the same since that injury, David Carr what team is he playing for now?
Be it the organisation or the player, very few are actually successful. I hope Andrew will be worth it but he could well be just another statistics for bust.
Yes just like Manning was a unknown..we all want a heathy Manning but not at the expense
Of the whole team. You already said that you don’t see the team being good with Luck and that is a bunch of BS, you have no idea and then you say move the team WTF.
I don't agree with moving team either
as for the DRAFT #1 pick i think we just all have to wait and see. Remember the Ted Ginn Jr pick. The reaction of the fans was priceless. if you have not seen it youtube it. Never seen so many clutch their head in disgust..
Bet Against Him In 2012? Maybe Not. But Against Him In 2016? Definitely!
Manning is 36. Even were he perfectly healthy, he would have 4 good years left, max. That is bad enough in and of itself, but when there are several other good QBs younger in the AFC alone (Tom Brady is 33, Philip Rivers and Matt Schaub are 30, Ben Roethlisberger is 29, Joe Flacco is 27 … you can laugh but Flacco DID play well enough to get his team into the Super Bowl only to be foiled by the dropped pass and shanked kick) not to mention guys like Eli Manning (31), Drew Brees (33), Aaron Rodgers (28) and Matt Stafford (only 23!) from the NFC that he would have to beat to win a Super Bowl … let’s just say that I am glad that you said that you wouldn’t be opposed to taking Andrew Luck.
If Manning wants to stay in Indy, it is all on Manning. That is the truth.
1) He has to be healthy.
2) He has to be willing to coexist with Luck.
3) He has to be happy with the new direction and philosophy that Irsay has taken with HIS team (and if Manning wants to run a team, let him buy one).
4) He has to take a pay cut.
While #1 is out of his hands, Manning could VOLUNTEER to do 2-4 for the franchise that has paid him $150 million and built him a contender (even if they aren’t more talented than the Giants, Steelers and Patriots, they aren’t exactly the Browns, Bengals or Cardinals either are they?) at any time. Instead, Manning has chosen to publicly criticize the guy who has been signing his paychecks – including $26 million for not playing a down last year, a contract that Manning signed knowing full well that he wasn’t healthy – by complaining to the media. Yes, folks who seem to place Manning above the Colts, it IS a 2 way street, and if Manning wants to retire a Colt, he had better find his way to the middle of it, and pronto.
