Suggestion On The Colt's Free Agents Targeting

Bilde_medium

Curtis Painter, who plays is listed as a quarterback, begins to get pummeled by the Tennessee Titans defensive ends showing that we should be grateful if we could trade him for a kick-holder or a half eaten marshmallow.

Generally, the Colts main off-season focus is resigning their own men and occasionally targeting specific players that weren't exactly play-makers. This time around there will be a lot of new guys in the organization who may have a different approach to how we conduct our goals. This season won't be a season where we go out signing guys like Lardarius Webb who should be coveted but will not be prioritized with Manning vs Luck/Griffin and the QB future of our franchise. Chuck Pagano would be thrilled to have his best CB who happens to be 26 years old to help rejuvenate a weakened Colt's defense. After the jump, I selected a few guys that the Colts should take a few looks at after we decide who's going to lead our Colts.....

Star-divide

Free Agent Target : DT, SS, DE,WR

Jason Jones(25) ,DE/DT,Titans: Nothing would be better than snatching Jason Jones from the Tennessee Titans after they allowed Jason Babin to leave and now he is in the top of his game with the Eagles. He suffered injuries when he was first brought in as a DT and has since been converted to DE where he played majority of the games. Jason Jones is not a elite player but with Pagano as our DC he could be utilized as a role player.

Pierre Garcon(25),WR,Colts : Resigning the only wide receiver that is young and a play-maker for the team is a definite must. If approximate half the fan base doesn't want Manning than the majority should rather use sign Garcon up than Wayne who is 33 years old. Although, WR should be somewhat addressed in the draft having Garcon as a "reliable" #2 guy should work out long-term.

Tvyon Branch(25),SS,Raiders : 109 tackles with 1 interception is not bad for 25 year old SS Tvyon Branch. Matching him alongside Bethea,Angerer, and a better defensive scheme could spell trouble for anyone thinking 100+ days on the ground.

Jacob Tamme (26),TE,Colts : Playing behind Pro Bowler Dallas Clark doesn't normally allow time for any young tight ends who want to catch a few passes. He's young and he's been a part of our organization for a long time and if we do decide to draft a rookie QB having a talented player who rookie QBs normally target when under-pressure.

These four guys are young and talented and although none are superstars they all can help the Colts as they rebuild if we do not find any elite younger players to sign in the off-season.

NOTE: THIS IS ONLY A MOCK FREE AGENCY PERIOD OF GUYS WHO ARE UNDERRATED AND DOES NOT PORTRAY THE WHOLE FREE AGENCY WE SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR.

I would say Tamme and Garcon are priorities for the Colts, along with Mathis and an extension/restructuring of Freeney.

Trade Clark…………..re-sign Tamme
Re-sign Mathis, or franchise and trade him
Re-sign Wayne and Garcon (back-loaded)
Re-sign Pollak and Wheeler for veteran minimum or close to it.

Outside FAs, Evan Mathis G from Eagles and Cory Redding DE/DT from Ravens. They aren’t young, but are short term fixes.

Remaining needs to address in draft:
QB (Luck), 1T/NT, LB, CB, SS, WR, OG/C, TE = 8 needs for 9 picks
If Mathis is traded, 9 needs for 10 picks.

thought i never say this

but i agree with ty46 time to trade clark. as much as it pains me i think we also need to cut bait on freeney. i love what he’s done but if sentimental feelings go out the door with manning then keep it going with him as well. i want wayne back since i think any new QB needs SOME stability at WR.

FAs to target

Carl Nicks
Marshal Yanda
Red Bryant
Desean Jackson.

I agree with trading Clark. Let Brackett, Addai, Diem, Bullit, Lacey, Wayne all go.
