Irsay's latest tweet...
The latest in the drama continues, as this was tweeted shortly after midnight Sunday morning. I found it interesting as I linked the La Canfora article on my twitter account @JimIrsay. Half an hour later I checked back in before calling it a night, and lo and behold Mr. Irsay had tweeted this response to Mr. La Canfora's article. So was this all rumor or speculation or another leak test?
"No he hasn't been released nor was a decision reached weeks ago"

You're sure? Really?
I feel so special now… because I’ll bet his twitter account was deluged with links to that article. I hardly thought I was the only one! My point was the fact he responded so quickly to dispel the rumors.

So...
Is Irsay a mad scientist, insane, or just a high stakes gambler? Very risky to play it this way if he wants to keep the fanbase united and/or continue the greatness of the franchise moving forward.
I don't always drink beer....but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.
Agreed
if moving forward he does get released there will be suspicion that the article was indeed accurate. The only way now Irsay comes out of this without looking like the bad guy is if Manning retires, he’s not healthy to play or he stays in Indy…

this whole Luck vs manning is the thing dividing the fan base
i think most fans understand the business side and if manning is not healthy they understand but this whole your an idiot if you don’t draft luck or i will stop being a colts fan if they cut manning is ridiculous.
colts fans… other fans are right we ARE spoiled. one bad season and some colts fans are ready to jettison everyone and their mama. the only thing i’ve always said about two years ago even while still winning was it was time to jettison the polians who had clearly lost their touch and touch of reality and we needed new aggressive coaches. nothing against caldwell since he seems to be an amazing man but we needed a new kind of voice.
Just out of curiosity,
What is amazing about Caldwell. Nice guy? Yes, I have no doubt. But, amazing? To me, he’s just a guy who was way in over his head and whose incompetence was masked by Peyton, until Peyton got hurt.
good points but...
any man who lives right, preaches about family and faith, supports his players, gives advice, has the support of GROWN MEN and does not embarrass himself except in a game which is still a game… THAT is an amazing man. I used to play football so I understand why coach like this would not loose his locker room.
he also doesn’t wear his faith and put it in peoples face like tebow. he doesn’t say one thing and we read about him in the paper doing opposite. the WORST thing people say is he’s a bad HC, ok asst coach, but a better man… i wish people say that being my worst trait.
O.K....thanks for answering.
Interesting perspective, and I respect it. But, he was paid well (millions) to support his players and give advice. As far as not embarrassing oneself (outside of game situations)….many people don’t embarrass themselves and many people have faith which they don’t throw in other peoples’ faces.
yeah but when has caldwell thrown it in anyone face?
others are the ones speaking to his character. we get on caldwell for NOT being an a** on the sideline or talking enough! fans wanted gruden who by all reports by ex coaches, owners, and players was dishonest and lies constantly and lets be real he won with dungy’s players the same way caldwell won with dungy’s players. the fans also wanted cowher who yelled, spittled on players, and embarrassed himself and others. but caldwell handled his situation with class even though EVERYONE knew the polians had him as a puppet and made the decisions, manning controlled the offense, and he was only told to keep the ship.
now was he a great coach.. not for THIS TEAM, maybe another one. and your 100% right he did not coach up this team as maybe someone else could have but look at what the polians gave him and tell me who could have? you knew peyton is going out and you only get painter and collins who was fresh off the coach?? i will respect the man for earning the respect of his players and wish him well. thats something I cannot say for the polians. now that we have another what seems to be solid man as coach from players and coaches i am excited we didn’t suffer that PLUS we get more intensity from this coach and more involved in a woeful defense.
either way ayrshire i think we both can agree this are exciting times!
Yes, indeed.
I wish Caldwell good things too, I really do.
