Prediction: final Manning scenario
Frank Reich and Ron Turner were fired...leaving openings for WR and QB coaches. Arians is apparently inbound as OC. Christensen is apparently set to become WR coach. rumors now building that Manning will retire...it's also well known that Irsay wants Manning to retire. How does this all resolve? See after the jump...
Manning will retire. Colts will name him QB coach. Colts will draft luck. Reggie Wayne will stay on to be the veteran security blanket for Luck. Colts will further perfect the Manning attack....who knows, Tom Moore could come back.

If Manning retires, it would be too painful for him to stay here, on the sidelines
I could see him retiring also for contractual reasons.
I DON'T THINK
he’s healthy and the Colt’s will not pick up his option. I think he’ll continue to rehab in hopes of signing with another team. I’m not sure other teams will risk a big contract because of his health and he will retire.
Honestly, this is a best case scenario for Colt’s fans who won’t have to see him compete in another uniform. At that point all that is left are the great memories and a spot for the future statue.
SO I'M NOT
a real fan because I refuse to live in fantasyland? I’ve been a Colt’s fan since the late 60s and appreciate everything Manning has done for the franchise and city. I think a lot of posters here are Manning fans first and Colt’s fans second. I don’t get that.

SO SHOULD
the Colts not play next season? Look, this happens to all great players and its unfortunate Manning’s career had to end a little sooner than expected. However, I am a Colt’s fan and I choose to look to the future.
they didn't play this season

that would be awesome
but i doubt it. I don’t think he retires now I think he won’t retire until the summer. He will play the string out and see if he can play again.
I agree with most of the sentiment in these comments - It would be a dream come true, but I don't think there's any way in hell Manning's going to coach this team that soon.
Maybe – and that’s a huge maybe – if Manning retires and in his statement he confirms that he’ll never be able to play again, then there’s a chance he returns to the NFL in a coaching capacity sometime in the next 5 years. But if there’s a shred of hope that he can regain his strength and capacity to play, then Manning’s going to rehab until he can come back. Unfortunately for us Colts fans, by the time that day gets here, he’ll long be released from his contract with our team.
I think that unless Manning comes out and retires, he’ll get released. He’ll rehab on his own as a Free Agent and sign with the highest bidder if and when he can prove that his neck and nerves have fully healed. I think that eventually he will be healthy enough to play again, but it’s looking like that day is very far down the road at this point. If he doesn’t play in the 2012 season, but finally is able to get healthy enough for the 2013 season, he’ll be 37 going on 38 and 2 full years removed from playing a down in the NFL.
To get back as a QB in the NFL, Manning has his own personal Everest to climb.
I am a veteran of the Internet - I will suffer fools gladly. And then mock them. And then post cat pictures.
Surprised I haven't heard this scenario much...
Colts do not pay his $28 million option, but bring him back at a much lower figure for maybe 1-2 years. Yes, he’ll get offers aplenty, but he wants to stay in Indy if he can, and I believe he’ll take a little less to do so.
