Colts officially hire new OC
To change the subject from all these pointless debates about Manning, I thought I'd post this. I know everyone already knows this was going to happen but now it is official, Bruce Arians is the new Offensive Coordinator of the Colts, as per Adam Schefter.

I am unsure about how I feel about this decision, before reading into the man I was really excited considering the Steelers' success these past years. I can't say I watch the Steelers enough to know whether he is part of the reason for the success or not, because their defense is always so intense. People say he can be attributed to the success of Ben Roethlisberger, and let's not forget Peyton during his first 3 years with the team. But as I read more and more, it seems that most Steelers fans have a certain 'Good Riddance" feeling towards him, as we Colts fans did with Caldwell. I'd like to get some real input from you guys if you know about the subject, feel free to post why you think this will be a bad or a good hire. Please try to use an objective view that is at least somewhat factually based because I would like to learn more about the man and his offense. So, what do you think?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

Great Coaching Choice
Regardless of how Steelers fans may feel, Arians is a great hire for this team. He’s not only helped make Pitt’s offense a contender each and every year, but he’s also been to two superbowls during his time with the team. Steeler’s fans need to realize that the reason their offense was underperforming was because it didn’t have the O-Line that it once did. It also hasn’t had a break out running back since Willie Parker was in his prime. As we Colt’s fans can attest to, with a porous o-line and a weak RB core, it is really hard to win championships without a transcendent QB, which Big Ben Isn’t. I welcome debate on this issue, but to me, this guy seems like a knock out of the park in terms of coaching experience. Who would you rather have that is a current OC prospect? A REALISTIC OC prospect. I think if the Colts can pick up that linebacker coach from Pittsburgh, this team is going to have one HELL of a smash mouth mentality with a QB that could end up being just as good as a Big Ben, Rivers, or Manning…a running game that has both speed and strength, and an offensive line that gives the QB a couple more seconds to make the right decision. Can’t wait to see what happens with this franchise moving forward.

feel free to correct me
because I can’t say I know much about him, but many Steeler fans were saying that he is a bad play caller, and hardly ever utilizes the running game in situations which he should. They say he wastes a lot of downs trying for a deep threat ball, and that is the main reason why Big Ben got sacked so much (although O-Line can obviously attribute to that). Also I have heard that none of his plays are really that intricate, and somewhat outdated. If any of this is true, my main worry is that we won’t focus enough on the running game. But again I reiterate these are not my observations, just what I have read, which could be incorrect.
We all like Larry Coyer at first too
Just my opinion on the matter

I never thought our offensive coaches were a problem
I’m glad it’s someone that’s worked for this franchise before. We’ve cast off a lot of institutional memory with this housecleaning.
Being in politics is like being a football coach. You have to be smart enough to understand the game and dumb enough to think it's important. -- Eugene J. McCarthy
