Chuck Pagano returned to the Colts facility Monday for the first time since being diagnosed with leukemia.
For the first time since the news broke of his leukemia diagnosis back on October 1st, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano returned to the team facility and attended the Monday coaches meeting. Interim head coach Bruce Arians told the media on Monday that Pagano was present at the coaches meeting.
"Probably shouldn't tell you this, but Chuck was in our staff meeting today."
Arians said many people in the building were "shocked" that Pagano was there, but the shock quickly transformed into smiles. Arians also said that Pagano's white blood counts were very high, and that the Colts head coach was upbeat and looking good. However, after the meeting, Pagano was sent home due to fatigue.
Pagano's presence in the building sends a signal that, despite his exhausting treatments, he is still very involved with the team.
Arians also said that the second phase of Pagano's cancer treatments will begin this week.
It is still unclear if Pagano will return to coach the Colts this season, but today's news is the first tangible sign that such a return is still possible.
