Colts Mock 1.0
I am going to do this mock 2 ways. 1. A normal mock in which I am going to be reasonable and pick BPA and Need
2. Something a bit more optimistic in the sense that some players fall to us
SCENARIO 1:
Round 1: QB Andrew Luck
Obvious choice, its obvious that the Colts will select Luck.
Round 2: OG/OT Kelechi Osemele
Osemele should be available for us, and I think that you need to work to protect Luck before you can focus on anything else. With the Osemele pick we will have two bookend tackles in Ijalana and Castanzo with 1 dominant guard in Osemele. WE can address the OC and other OG position later in the draft, or have current players step in.
Round 3: Josh Champan DT/NT
Out D-Line is possibly one of the worst in the NFl, in stopping the run. We have absolutely no size anywhere along the line and now that we are switching to 3-4 we need to add some size, and Chapman is a good fit.
Round 4: Leonard Johnson CB
Leonard is predicted to be a late 3rd to early 4th so hopefully he is there. We do need to improve the Backfield and this pick can be the beginning of that.
Round 4 Comp: Sean Spence OLB
He is a late 4 or early 5 so he could be available here, its not too much of a reach. We need to improve our LB core, which is pretty good already but needs some more depth.
Round 5: Jarius Wright WR
Wright should be a good replacement for Wayne, who I expect to follow Manning's lead.
Round 6: Akeim Hicks DT/NT
We got Chapman in the 3rd and now we continue to add size with Hicks. He can play NT and Chapman can play 3-4 DT
Round 7: Asa Jackson CB
Add another cornerback to our pretty bad backfield.
Round 7 Comp: Garth Gerhart OC
Possible replacement for Saturday but more likely to just add depth to the line
SCENARIO 2
Round 1: Andrew Luck QB
Round 2: TRADE to Philadelphia Eagles for both 2's they have
Round 2a: Brandon Thompson DT
Round 2b: Jayron Hosley CB
Round 3: Brandon Boykin CB
Round 4: George Illoka S
Round 4 comp: William Vlachos OC
Round 5: Jarius Wright WR
Round 6: Akeim Hicks NT
Round 7: Brandon Brooks OG
Round 7 Comp: DeAngelo Peterson TE

some good picks ...
My best scenario honestly is
*Cutting and Resigning Manning to a pay for play contract (2 to 3 more years)
*Trade 1st pick to Cleveland for 4th adn 22nd picks as well as their 2nd and 4th round picks (future picks as well)
*Trade down in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds to get multiple picks in those rounds
We need to start thinking like the Patriots during the draft …. well the patriots 3 years ago because recently bad drafts … We’d have hoping a healthy Manning for 3 more years and a last run if you will with a lot of picks to make this team A LOT better
THEN we have free agency
Scenario 1 was pretty good
but in Scenario 2, I think Hosley will fall to the 3rd or 4th Round. He has the talent to get selected in the 2nd but seems too undersized and teams might look at his size instead of his talent.
But you did a pretty decent job with your mock. B+
Colts fan since Tony Dungy's 48th Birthday.
Free will is an illusion, but pragmatically, the illusion of self (ego), choice, freedom, consciousness, are all necessary for the game or struggle to move. No struggle, no universe.
Get well soon, Peyton Manning
