Co-existence

When Peyton signed his contract last year for 90 mil he had declined an offer for 100 mil. He made that decision because he has integrity. He easily could have gotten an extra 5 mil per year, but he chose to think about his team. That's what happens when you have heart and care about the team and not just money. They paid him a lot of money for him to sit on the sideline or in the booth last year. (Here's where the integrity kicks in again) Now how do you think he feels about having his family pay him (that's how he sees Jim and his team) to be a spectator? When Auto-Mannic returns, it will be a new deal worked out to where Luck gets lucky enough to understudy one of the best quarterbacks of all time. Now, if you have turned down $10,000,000 before to help out some other guys at your job, then got paid to watch them get hurt because your previous understudies sucked or broke, from an air conditioned booth, with those little shrimps and cocktail sauce, (ok maybe that's an exaggeration, but its plausible) wouldn't you want to go prove something to Dad?

Just a fair warning. Of course Manning re-negogiating a deal that is incentive-laden is in the best possible outcome of this scenario. But this is most likely NOT going to happen. This post could have been a comment under any of the hundreds of posts about this issue, so there was no reason to make a seperate, incoherent fanpost about it. All this does is push other good posts further down. This sort of redundancy will not be met well by the other posters here and for good reason.

I think it should be $2.5 mil a year, over the life of a four-year contract.

I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game. It will take our people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a larger physical stoicism. Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set. Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us. ~Walt Whitman

not really

manning didnt take 20 mil a year because he knew it would have been for show and he never would have seen all the money.

he looks at irsay as the guy that pays him. he doesnt give a damn if he stays in indy and he will jet out of town quickly once irsay does the smart thing and cuts him. peyton is loyal to peyton. not the colts

just a bad post on your part.

I've always thought of you as rude but not stupid

But if you think Peyton doesn’t have any loyalty to Indy, you’ve got another thing coming

LOL

His last contract Manning could have demanded and recieved the largest contract in NFL history. Half of the teams in the NFL would have been knocking at his door for him to sign. You have NO clue as to what Manning is or what he would do for the Colts organization. You are just a fan like everyone else. Wake up and stop thinking you are actually part of the team. Just another one of your piss poor attempts to put someone down.
