Report: Colts Told Andrew Luck Not To Throw At 2012 Scouting Combine

Andrew Luck will undoubtedly be the No. 1 overall pick at the 2012 NFL Draft. Yet, despite this, the Stanford standout was more than willing to head to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week and conduct some drills throwing the football in front of scouts from all across the league. Despite his willingness, Luck will not throw at the combine, and the reason he won't be throwing is the Indianapolis Colts.

Here's the Indianapolis Star's Bob Kravitz:

Now, I'm inclined to believe this report because everyone locally in Indianapolis knows that Bob Kravitz is the (hopefully) unpaid P.R. mouthpiece for the Indianapolis Colts now that his nemesis, Bill Polian, is no longer there.

He can deny it all he wants. He's not fooling anyone. Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing. If Bob wants to be the bullhorn for owner Jim Irsay, that's cool. There is value in that, especially for me. I'd just prefer he admit it and save us all the lectures on journalistic ethics. One is not "ethical" in the journalism field if they are just tooting the horn for someone else, and I didn't need my wife (five years working for AP and Newsday) or my aunt (30 years with the Indianapolis Star) to tell me that.

Regarding Luck, that the Colts reportedly told him not to throw at the Combine, and Luck consented, pretty much should tell you readers all you need to know about who Jim Irsay will be selecting No.1 overall in April.

Luck reportedly will participate in the non-throwing drills, like the 40-yard dash. Also worth noting, Baylor's Robert Griffin III and Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill also will not throw in Indianapolis.

By the way, if Bob Kravitz tries to recant this tweet has he has attempted to do with other things he's written about or said in recent months, he's off my Christmas card list.
