Mock Draft Pre-Combine & Offseason Wish List
Here's what I would like the Colts to do this offseason. Who knows what will really happen.
Sign Free Agents
Pierre Garcon - WR (Colts)
Antonio Garay - DT(Chargers - former DC team)
Scott Wells - C (Packers)
Trade 4th Round Pick - Asante Samuel (Eagles - former GM team)
Dennis Dixon - QB (Steelers - former OC team)
Jarrett Johnson - OLB (Ravens - former DC team)
Cut
Gary Brackett, Melvin Bullitt, Joseph Addai, Dwight Freeney
More after the jump
Draft
1st Round - Andrew Luck, QB - Stanford. Obvious choice.
2nd Round - Chandler Jones, OLB - Syracuse. I think he is a great fit as a 3-4 rush OLB.
Chandler Jones Sack-Fest against WVU (via uhurricanes3)
3rd Round - Dwight Jones, WR - North Carolina. Many may question if he will last until the 3rd round, but I think he will be there at the top of the 3rd. With his college coach on hand, I think we take Dwight and continue to develop him into a No. 2 with Garcon.
ACC Player of the Week - UNC's Dwight Jones (via theACCsport)
4th Round (comp) - Philip Blake, OG/C - Baylor. At 6-2, 312 lbs. I think he has some great movement to play either guard/center in the league.
5th Round - Nick Jean-baptiste, NT - Baylor. I know many think Nick will go higher in the draft, but I see him as a developmental pick that may slip through until this late in the draft. I could be wrong of course.
6th Round - Chris Galippo, ILB - USC. Love this player. Check out the video and you see a tough kid who is good in coverage and run support and could develop into a great special teams player.
USC LB #54 Chris Galippo Highlights 2009 (via CaliforniasGold)
7th Round - Case Keenum, QB - Houston. Developmental QB who can support Luck and be a great practice squad QB.
Case Keenum Highlight 2011 University of Houston (via 4AGame)
Our Depth Chart in the fall (*new player)
QB - Luck, Dennis Dixon*, Keenum*
RB - D. Brown, D. Carter, D. Evans, UDFA

C - Wells*

Trading a valuable mid-round pick in a deep draft of corners for a corner at the end of his career? Dumb.
Also not a fan of Dwight Jones, though I’ve accepted we probably draft him given the chance. Jones makes too many catches against his body rather than with his hands. I’d rather have Broyles
Totally agree on Broyles
I think he will turn out to be an excellent pro. Great hands and agility mixed with speed. He could be quite a weapon for Luck.
Your depth on the O-Line sucks
Also why would you bring in so many older players if we are trying to rebuild? Also why is it that Baptise, who you say is a developmental player, your 2nd Option at NT?

Baptise
Because if we sign a FA (Garay) then we can allow Baptise to develop and learn behind him. We can’t fix all our problems in one offseason

Wow
That is one bad team you have put together. If our new HC can’t use Mathis and Freeney productively then he won’t last long in this league. You have saved Irsay a lot of $ but I agree w TB87…got to draft some db’s in this deep draft for same.
Thank God you aren't a GM b/c this is idiotic!
A few things that are catastrophically wrong with what you posted:
1. We are signing all these free agents (some big money free agents) with what cap space?
2. We aren’t going to cut Freeney that is retarded, and we will re-sign Mathis
3. You have absolutely no depth on the OL, so you are going to get Luck, Manning, whoever killed … Way to go in the first year!
4. You have us taking another QB within this Draft? NOT going to happen .. we can pick a guy up as an undrafted free agent as our 3rd string whatever … We aren’t going to go pay money we don’t have to Dixon as QB … we will probably resign Orlovsky
5. Dwight Jones won’t last till the 3rd round
6. the trading of pick(s) to get a CB in a CB deep draft is dumb as stated above ….
dwight jones will be there in the 3rd....easily
no one hurt their stock more at the senior bowl than dwight jones

Retarded ideas:
Cutting Freeney, when you can trade him or keep him.
Trading for a CB, who isn’t willing to tackle and has a salary of 9.3 million.
Chandler Jones is not worth a 2nd rounder.
Scott Wells is worse than Pollak (at C).
I'm not trying to flame this post
but I see alot of things wrong here:
cutting Joseph Addai and Dwight Freeney really doesn’t make sense. Joseph Addai is the best blocking RB in the league and with a solid O-Line he can be a valuable runner as well. We can use Freeney still in a 3-4/4-3 hybrid, so why cut him?
We honestly don’t need to get Dennis Dixon or draft 2 QBs this year , if we are able to keep Manning, draft Luck, and re-sign Orlovsky. We’ll have two franchise QBs and one very competent QB on the roster.
The only thing I see right with this post is cutting Brackett and Bullitt. Also getting Jarrett Johnson might be a good idea.
Trading a 4th Round pick for Asante’ Samuel is really out of the question. If you like Samuel’s skill-set, it would be better to use that same pick on Jayron Hosley from VT, dude is like Jacob Lacey and Justin Tryon combined and has great route jumping skills and can ball-hawk pretty well for a CB.

Aren't those the same thing?
Where have you been for the past few months.
We aren’t keeping Manning.
