Can Irsay/Manning delay option bonus?
I don't think this is likely to happen. I think Peyton will be released. Even if peyton is at 100%, you simply cannot pay him this type of money with his injury history on his neck. As Irsay said, the contract is "difficult to unwind". Does anyone know if it is at least possible to push it back? I would think it is as anything can be done between two agreeable parties.....other thoughts?

Wondered this too, but looking at all the snippy Jilted Lover BS from Irsay i doubt Irsay wants to try and work out a deal with Manning.
Manning knows that his best option to ease back onto the field is right here. Going somewhere else would require the next team to essentially throw out their offense for the duration of Peyton’s remaining career in the hopes that he gets them over the hump. Which limits his options.
Currently the number of Coaches or Owners stupid enough to do that are down to the Jets, Miami and Washington. I personally don’t think he would go to the Jets. But Irsay’s BS may make him change his mind and put him in a green and white uniform next year just so he could prove a point. Also this could all backfire spectacularly if Luck refuses to come to Indy lol.
As confused as a baby in a topless bar.
Why would a team need to throw out their offense for Manning?
Manning can learn it in a week or two, while the other guys need months for Manning’s system.
Because manning who is also an offensive coordinator calls his own plays and is the biggest control freak in the NFL. He will tell them what they should be doing not adapt to what they’ve been doing. if they complain, he will ask the OC then why did you bring me here……all pure speculation of course.

This is overstated
Manning’s strengths lay in his preparation for the opposing defense. He would be fine on any other team and in any other system. He is trusted by coaches to read the defense on the field and adjust to them, but he’s not his own offensive coordinator. He’s not giving run play blocking assignments, though he may pick up something on the field and change an assignment to block someone. He’s a great QB, and does more on the field than any other I’ve ever seen, but he’s still a QB.
because he offers no straight talk regarding peyton?

If you are worried about straight talk you should throw a whole bunch of folks in
Manning, Condon, Polian, Schein, Scott whats his name, Mike, Jack, Smiley, Rondell Robinsmorther, George Bush, Obama too, The Big Bad Wolf, Antoine Levi, Jermain Jackson, Evel Kenevil, Percy, Darrel and his other brother, Darrel, and Louis C.K.
There are probably more but they slipped my mind.
As I read posts from the last couple days I ask the same question....
If nothing else posts and articles have been a great distraction from my responsibilities, mostly for entertainment purposes only. Better than thinking about the Pats possibly winning another SB or listening to to drivel on NFL radio.
i think
the NFL already said they cannot push it back. Heard this a few weeks ago, i think.
Uuhhhhh...
Condon,on NFLN, Peyton’s agent, says it can be moved and even suggested it could be renegotiated. But, also stated there was a specific reason for having that money due in March. He did not explain what that reason was.

because
they wanted the team to commit to him for 4 years or cut him loose. doesn’t sound like it will be extended

Leverage
Was the reason. ANd we are seeing it as they will refuse to renegotiate a more cap-friendly deal and Peyton will be out of Indy.
Can always re-sign
I don’t know whether they can save the current contract, but they could certainly sign a new one to replace it. That’s a problem for the 2012 salary cap since the money paid last summer gets moved up to count immediately rather than being spread over four years. But next year looks like a rebuilding year regardless, and getting the first bonus off the books would help in future years.
Why
Why would/should Manning re-sign? You get cut because the organization thinks you are NO longer usefull. Unless they have a plan worked out before he would be cut. Manning would tell them(Rightfully so) To stick it up there ASS! If you got fired from your job? Would you go back the next week for less money, just because you liked it there? If so, you have some issues.
NO, HE IS GETTING
cut because he is a huge financial risk to the team.
What a poo-poo head...
He already took less money so players we needed could be re-signed. Why wouldn’t he do it again knowing things did not turn out the way he or Irsay thought it would. Manning is a pro’s pro, he’ll work out with Irsay whatever they BOTH feel is the right way to go forward. Have faith Colts fans, for goodness sake! Stop letting the media pull you around by the nose!

you live in a fairy tale world
if you think manning is coming back to the colts for less money
What are the chances
Manning miraculously gets better on March 9th. I think he wanted to ensure his departure from the team but wanted to make Irsay look like the bad guy while doing it!!!!
