Chuck Pagano made a name for himself as a defensive coordinator and secondary coach in Baltimore. It helped vault him to the position of head coach in Indianapolis, where he hopes to replicate the same success.
It seems one of his former players in Baltimore is interested in helping him do that in Indianapolis.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Ravens defensive end Cory Redding is scheduled to visit the Colts tonight. The expectation is he will be signed as a free agent.
The move makes sense if Pagano truly intends to shift the Colts defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4 base look. Redding (6'4, 298 pounds) is best suited to play 3-4 defensive end. 2011 was one of his best seasons, with 4.5 sacks and 43 combined tackles.
Another free agent the Colts are interested in, per NFL.com's Adam Caplan, is tight end John Carlson, a former second round pick of the Seahawks who played his college ball at Notre Dame.
Also from Caplan, restricted free agent corner Jacob Lacey was not tendered by the Colts. He is now a free agent (aka, an ex-Colt).
