Let me be clear, this is just a feeling, and I don't claim to be an expert. I also am extremely happy that we got rid of Addai, Brackett, Clark, Bullitt, and Garcon, and kept Wayne and Mathis (as football roster spots, not people). And everything does sound good when it comes to Cory Redding, Zbikowski etc. Even Winston Justice sounds intruiging, I remember him from Mel Kiper's business a few years ago. But we got a new GM and Head Coach, and I just feel like they are bringing their boys, guys they have personal relationships with.
1) I'm not so sure it was Cory Redding and Tim Zbikowski who made the Ravens D good. Zbikowski was next to Ed Reed, and Redding was next to Haloti Ngata. Its the Reed, Lewis, Suggs, Ngata core that makes them good IMO. Is this just our Head Coach being excited and throwing some bones to guys he knows? Obviously we aren't getting Ngata etc.
2) I'm not so sure about this Eagles O-line migration. I read on here somewhere that the Eagles O-line was ranked 2nd by some metric last year. All I know is Michael Vick couldn't stay healthy, and they as a team underachieved with star players at skill positions (Vick, McCoy, Desean Jackson/Maclin, Asomugha, Babin etc etc). As I said, I'm not an expert but that usually indicates problems in the trenches to me, in the NFL.
We are obviously trying to rebuild, but I hope we don't go too heavy on the Eagles O-line and Ravens D that those teams aren't trying to keep.
