University of Delaware center Gino Gardkowski, brother of former Raiders and Buccaneers quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, is generating a lot of pre-draft buzz, what with all the visits and workouts he has scheduled. One of those visits was with the Indianapolis Colts, or so says Aaron Wilson.
Interestingly, Gradkowski (6'2, 300 pounds) models his game after Jeff Saturday, the longtime Colts center who just recently signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers.
Gradkowski ran the 40-yard dash in 5.25 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout, benched 225 pounds 29 times, had a with a 28.5 inch vertical leap, a 8-7 broad jump, a 4.78 20-yard shuttle, and a 7.75 three-cone drill. He's also earned high marks for his blocking technique.
With the Colts just recently signing free agent center Samson Satele to a two-year contract, it's unlikely the Colts are looking to draft Gradkowski as their starting center. However, he could be someone who, a few years from now, takes over the starting center gig much the same way Jeff Saturday did in 2000 after Larry Moore started for two-plus years.
Also from Wilson, the Colts have shown interest in corner Keith Tandy out of West Virginia. Tandy, unlike Gradkowski, was not invite to the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine.
