In an attempt to decipher the mad ramblings of the Colts mercurial owner, I have concluded that Jim Irsay is, once again, telling us fans that Andrew Luck will be the Colts No. 1 overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft:
We got Whisper Jet coming n hot from NYC with#1 pick n2 Indy to meet with Fans and Media..what a year to have #1 pick, but Horseshoe is lucky
— Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) April 16, 2012
Some have taken this tweet to suggest Irsay is flying the presumed No. 1 pick into Indianapolis TODAY to meet with fans and media. I got the sense this tweet was a continuation of Irsay's weekend Twitter blitz to promote a contest for followers to guess who the Colts will take April 24th.
At some point in the near future, I have to think that the Colts would begin negotiations with the No. 1 overall pick prior to next week. We all know that Andrew Luck will be their selection. It's to the point now that if it isn't Luck, there will be fan backlash, anger. Hell, we even have another "guarantee" from Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star, telling us Luck will be the pick and that the reason Irsay is dragging this out is because he is "playing around" with fans.
In the end, this faux drama comes off as little more than a cheap stunt by Irsay and the Colts.
