2012 Colts Draft... Vontaze Burfict, CB need, OT Justin Anderson used as a hybrid?

Colts Nation,

I must say that I loved the Colts draft. In recent years, the Tight End position has proven to be a huge difference maker on offense. The Colts do Andrew Luck a favor and snag the 2 best TEs in the draft. This is important because if you watch film of Luck last year he goes to his TEs a lot. I really like the 2 WRs we drafted (Hilton & Brazill) . Hilton reminds me of a poor mans Deshaun Jackson and Brazill looks like a good value pick in round 6 due to potential. Chapman was also a solid pick and should add some meat up front. Great job drafting, however, I have some things I would inquire about....

I was hoping the Colts would go out on a limb and make Vontaze Burfict Mr. Irrelevant. I have a friend who lives in Scottsdale, AZ and I have known about Burfict since he was a freshman. As we all know, Burfict potentially failed a drug test, had bad workouts, and has shown a tendency to lose his cool on the field . His attitude was justifiably questionable, however, if you watch his interviews he doesn't come across as bad as the media would lead you to think. When you listen to him speak, he shows no where near as many "red flags" as when you hear Janoris Jenkins speak and Jenkins sill managed to be drafted in 2nd round.

When one writer called Burfict "un-draftable", Burficit responded humbly by saying he was "hurt" to hear that. To me, this type of response demonstrates that Burfict at least cares. The Bengals signed Burfict from the un-drafted list and will be getting a guy who collected 228 tackles (22.5 for loss), seven sacks and four forced fumbles in only three seasons with the SunDevils. He should be a solid backup to Rey Maualuga.

2 other questions for inquiry...

  • 7th round draft pick OT Justin Anderson from Georgia once played on the defensive line at Georgia. Anderson has been known to be athletic and weighs somewhere in the ballpark of 340 lbs. Could Grigson have possibly drafted Anderson as an emergency Nose Tackle if injuries become an issue later in the season?
  • Are there any CBs the Colts could target through a trade/ free agency? (Possibly Jenkins from the Cowboys now that they have Claiborne?
Gotta love that commercial w/ the white guy named Michael Jordan,
