I'm having a hard time mocking a NT to the Colts. After QB, it's the biggest need on the team...but there's no NTs worthy of the pick until the 4th round or so. THis is just not a year where we can find a starter at that particular position. So, previously I've been mocking a NT to the Colts in the 3rd or 4th to ensure we get as good a solution as possible at NT. In this version, I admitted we're starting that career back-up from Baltimore, and we'll just need to get a back-up this year. So, here goes:
1) Luck, QB, Stanford. Duh.
2) Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford. Only 50% chance he makes it this far. If Fleener's gone, I'd probably take the best available CB (Josh Robinson).
3) Marvin Jones, WR, California. If we want a run-first offense, a possession receiver like Jones is a must. Keep in mind, Jones ran a 4.46 at the combine, so he can get open deep too.
4) Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma. Good physical skills, and great experience at a high level.
5) Akiem Hicks, NT, Regina. Here's where I would gojbest NT available. Fangupo's a posibility. Chapman would work. Jean-Baptiste could even be my choice.
5C) Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Ploy. Let's face it: we need a lot of help here.
6C) Drake Dunsmore, FB/WB, Northwestern. We're using a FB this year, so here's a back-up who can participate in the passing game.
7) Nick Jean-Baptiste, NT, Baylor.
7-Jets) Joe Looney, OG, Wake Forest. Depth to the OL.
7 -Mr. Irrelevant) Delano Howell, S, Stanford.
