Colts.com Reworks Roster

Stay connected for news and updates

I hate to fixate on Colts.com's roster, since it generally doesn't reflect any kind of official team stance on each player's position. However, today the site just made significant changes to a number of players, and I figure there must be some reasoning behind it. The site split out the ILBs from the OLBs and officially moved the old DEs like Freeney and Mathis over to OLB. They also designated all the 3-4 DL as one of three positions: DE, DT, or NT. But the most interesting move to me was that they changed Ijalana from an OT to an OG. This is something that most of y'all anticiipated, but I was refusing to accept that Justice is our new RT. A couple more notes:

  • Moala is designated a DE, rather than a DT.
  • NTs are McKinney, Chapman, and Johnson, as anticipated
  • Redding is listed at 315 lbs., which is significantly heavier than I thought. I wonder if we plan to go bigger than anticipated at DE...? Some 3-4s use heavier guys there regularly.
  • Zane Taylor is now called a C, which is the position he played in college. I was really high on him coming out of college, since he was an honor roll/high school class president/leader-type who is strong as heck (41 reps at his pro day).
