Jerry Jones: Jenkins Staying in Dallas, Colts Fans Will Have to Wait...

According to sources (Tim MacMahon of ESPN), Jerry Jones has reiterated the words of the Cowboys front office, saying that CB Mike Jenkins will remain in Dallas this season and not be traded.

"There's nothing that I can conceive that would help us more as a football team and help us accomplish where we're going to be next year than having Jenkins on the team." - Jones

Coming straight from the GM, it sounds pretty certain that the Cowboys are going to keep Jenkins, OTA attendance or not, and plan to use him his the 3rd CB or in multiple CB sets. If they can get him to show up, this only makes sense for them... Certainly the Colts are in desperate need of a CB to start opposite of Powers, and though a Pro-bowl caliber player like Jenkins has Blue fans drooling at the prospect of seeing him wear the horseshoe, the asking price would certainly be too high, especially with other possibilities certain to emerge before the team runs out onto Soldier Field.

Now that we've had time to digest the idea of trading draft pick(s) to the Cowboys, it's probably for the best that Jones insists on keeping the disgruntled Jenkins. The Colts have a slew of unproven CB's to be looked at, including the newly acquired Cassius Vaughn, and one or two could certainly step up, which makes it worth waiting a few practices before making a big move. If nothing pans out there are sure to be a handful of CB's available once teams start making cuts (like one of those Bengal CB's we keep hearing so much about) and Grigson should certainly jump at those.

Now's the hardest part Colts fans... now we sit and wait...
