I am a big fan of Freeney and want to see how he does in this new defense because I think he is more agile than people are giving him credit for. I don't think the adjustment will be that difficult for him. With that being said, I think a prime opportunity has presented itself to trade him. And it is a partner Grigs is familiar with. The Eagles just had Riley Cooper and Jason Babin get hurt. Freeney in that wide 9 defense has got to be pretty attractive for the Eagles. He could agree to restructure his deal for the Eagles upon the trade. The Colts get that huge contract off of the books to be in a good position to pick up a quality player or two that doesn't make it through training camp. I would ask for a 4th rounder for him.
In addition to or instead of I would also consider training Austin Collie to the Eagles to help them deal with the Riley Cooper loss. With Collie gone, I would aggressively go after Mike Wallace, offering up whatever draft pick obtained from the Eagles, along with a 2nd rounder. Mike Wallace would immediately put the offense in the great category. I would move Wayne to the slot and have Wallace and Avery man the outsides. With Fleener attacking the middle, I think that would be virtually unstoppable. Throw in Allen or T.Y. in no back sets and it could be down right scary!!!!!!
I'm sure Grigs is looking at every possibility. If the Colts come out of training camp with both Wallace and Mike Jenkins I might name my next child Ryan:):)
