Manning rebuilding vs Luck Rebuilding

Stay connected for news and updates

Hi. First post. I'm a big Colts fan and wanted to share this other Colts fans and get some thoughts. Has anyone else noticed how eerily similar the Manning rebuilding and Luck rebuilding projects are? Some of Polian's transactions happened in year two, but they were very early on. Examples:

1-Manning and Luck both had second year OTs to build around: Glenn/Meadows and Costonzo/Iljalana

2-Polian and Grigson drafted QBs first overall and followed it up with back to back weapons at the same position, WRs and TEs. Manning/Pathon/Green to Luck/Fleener/Allen

3-Ty Hilton looks like the player Polian was trying to get with Jerome Pathon.

4-Manning and Luck have two very promising tight ends, who are very similar in skill sets. Manning had Dilger and Pollard. Luck has Fleener and Allen. Fleener and Dilger are big bodies but weren't as athletic as Pollard and Allen. Dilger used to frustrate the piss out of me because IF he caught the ball he seemed to lose all coordination of his body and start bumbling around. I can see a little Ken Dilger in Coby Fleener. :-)

5-Grigson and Polian both traded a 2nd round pick for a CB. Tyrone Poole and Vontae Davis.

6-Grigson and Polian both brought in overpaid safeties in Zbikowski and Chad Cota, ugh!

7-Grigson and Polian again shared the same opinions on DE by signing Cory Redding and Shawn King.

8-Naturally both GMs brought in a lot of players from their former teams. Grigson isn't as bad as Polian though.... so far

9-Both GMs acquired veteran LBs via trade, in their first year, to help shore up the position: Andre Royal and Moise Fokou

10-New centers were added to go with the rookie quarterbacks.

11-The backup quarterbacks were dumped in favor of new ones under each GM. How Polian was able to get the draft picks he did out of Jim Harbaugh (not the backup) and Paul Justin I'll never know. Good job Bill!

Anyone else have any others?
