is a bust. I know many on here already know it, but some are still arguing that YPC don't matter, and Trent is being used differently than Brown, and how he will get better when the line gets better. 5.9, 4.8, 4.5, 2.8. The YPC of Brown, Ballard, Bradshaw, and TRich. Hmmm... one of these things is not like the other! Same line, same scheme, same stud QB, etc. And don't be fooled by so called "experts." Of course YPC matters. It's the difference of 2nd and 8 vs. 2nd and 5. Or 3rd and 4 vs 3rd and 1. Richardson does little to get us into easier conversion situations. TRich is a decent 3rd down RB. He can block pretty well, he can catch the ball, but he can't run the ball effectively at all. He does not hit holes quickly, and even worse, he has no vision to run in the right lanes. He can get better, but it doesn't seem like his ceiling is very high. This sucks since we traded a 1st round pick for him. Yeah, it will be in the mid 20's or so, but where did we get Ballard? Something like 170th overall? Would you rather have a healthy Ballard or healthy TRich? I would rather have Ballard, and it isn't close. Good, solid RB's can be found for far less than the 25th overall pick.
We are still solid at the RB spot in 2013 thanks to Donald Brown. We will be very solid next year if we re-sign Brown and have Ballard and TRich. I don't think we re-sign Bradshaw since he can't stay healthy. The problem now is losing that 1st round pick. That could have been used on a solid interior lineman (either line really) or our WR or the future to pair with Hilton. I was all for the trade at the time, but TRich has been so bad and I have to finally admit this was a bad trade for the Colts. Kudos to the Browns for getting the better end of the deal.
