A lot has been written about the failures of Chuck Pagano this season. The Colts opened the season struggling to beat a Raiders team that most thought would not be competetive. They then became inconsistent, suffering losses by the seemingly inferior Dolphins and Chargers. His inability to prepare his team in recent weeks has cost the Colts a beat down by the Rams. He has the Colts sitting in the second seed of the AFC playoffs, which comes with a highly coveted 1st round bye. He has the Colts 3 games up in the AFC South. Chuck Pagano has also led this team to impressive wins against the 49ers, Seahawks, and Broncos. While he obviously has room for improvement as a head coach who has yet to coach an entire season, why is Chuck being treated as if he needs to get fired? Who are we comparing him too to gauge his success and failures? How about Bill Belichick. The first thing that stands out to me is that the Colts are ahead of his ball club in the standings. He is a defensive coach, isn't he? I remember a quote a couple weeks ago "If a defensive minded head coach can't get his team to play defense, what good is he to his team?" Do you all remember that? With that said, the Patriots have allowed 254 points. In comparison, the Colts have allowed 34 points fewer. So, is future hall of famer Bill Belichick not good for his team anymore? The Colts have less talent, less experience, and less continuity than the Patriots but yet the Colts are ahead of the Patriots in the standings. Time to move on. How about future HOFer Mike Shanahan? The Redskins are only 3-7 but those players sure do respect him, don't they? Okay who's next, how about Pete Carrol? He did lose to the unprepared Chuck Pagano, but he has won every other game this season. He did almost lose the the then winless Bucs at home earlier this season, that alone would have got him tossed in Indy. How about recent SB winners Tom Coughlin or Mike Tomlin? Combined they have won just 1 more game than the Colts, but they do have rings. I will give them a pass though, their teams have suffered devistating injuries while the Colts have been unaffected by their injuries. Falcons head coach Mike Smith seems do be doing well. Wasn't his team supposed to contend for the Super Bowl this year? No I take that back, let's get John Harbaugh since he just won the Super Bowl. His team is only 4-6 but they are in perfect position to earn that final wild card spot. With all of these perfect head coaches out there, why is Chuck Pagano still coaching this team?
