First off, let me apologize for the content of this post as I am not sure that it will be an enjoyable read. I am an avid reader of this blog and love the Colts. I understand that it is just a game and not a life and death situation. I have come to look forward to anything Colts related. I work very hard and a lot of hours. I also have a family and I farm. The Colts over the last several years have been a kind of diversion for me. The Peyton Manning led Colts exemplified what I was about. Hard work, pride, responsibility, etc. and I loved them. Then last year came and for me, it was probably my most exciting season as I thought we would be rebuilding for a few years but as we all know, we were a blast to watch.
I now am on the verge of not even watching them anymore because rather than being an enjoyable diversion, it is depressing and frustrating. First, what are the positives about this team? We have the best young quarterback in the league. We have a pair of promising tight ends and a receiver. Our offensive tackles are probably better than average. Not much else comes to mind. I was never impressed with Dungy or Caldwell as coaches...I always felt that Peyton carried both of them. I liked Mora just because of the sound bites! I love Pagano the man, but not sure about the coach. How is it possible to get blown out in the first half every single week? How do we go into this game with the receiving core? The interior offensive line????? All the money we had in the offseason and we could only sign one guard. WTF! People will say that Luck had a bad game. Big picture is that he will end up like David Carr very soon. We went into the season PLANNING on starting McGlynn and Satele next to each other! Sure the defense sucks, but they aren't the reason that we can only put up 3 points in the first half. We have all seen a much better lineup on the Oline, why are we unwilling to bench Satele? Why is Rogers inactive again this week. What about Holmes? Why are we suffering through Angerer and Sheppard with Conner waiting? Not buying that he is injured.
As I looked over on the Cardinals sideline and saw Tom Moore and BA, it made me wonder how different things might be. I think that we are devoid of leadership and pride. I understand that we have suffered more than our fair share of injuries, but only one on the offensive line. Until the offensive line improves, we are going to get pounded. Luck may win us some, I just hope he survives it.
sorry for the rant, and yes, I will be watching my Colts next week, for a few minutes anyway.
