Mock Draft- A Thanksgiving Offering

Ryan Grigson will have a limited stack of draft chips to play next April, but he should still be able to address areas of need as long as he does his due diligence. On the other hand, he should have plenty of cap cash at his disposal to work with to go after a "Whopper" or two. Maybe sign a free agent receiver, guard and pass rusher.

Having said that, let's examine some possible draftees. Note: I currently believe we'll have six selections, with an extra pick in the 7th round, leaving us with picks 2,3,5,6,7a and 7b . Here we go :

Round 2 - WR- Jarvis Landry- 6-1; 195; 4.53 - LSU - Tough receiver with good hands (yay!). Has caught 63 balls for 972 yards and 8 TD's.

Round 3 - CB- Deshazor Everette- 6-0; 185; 4.49 - Texas A&M- Very tough and physical. Good size, quickness and agility. Good playmaker.

Round 5 - FS - Kenny Ladler - 6-0; 205; 4.58 - Vanderbilt - Instinctive and gritty playmaker. Always around the ball. Flies around the field, sticks out on film.

Round 6 - CB - Deion Belue - 5-11; 183;; 4.47 - Alabama - Good in man coverage. Playmaker who started opposite Dee Millner in 2012.

Round 7a - G - Spencer Long - 6-4; 315; 5.25 - Nebraska - Potential top-100 selection prior to ACL injury early in 2013 season. May start 2014 on PUP, but would be a steal if available this late and worth "stashing".

Round 7b - C - Jonotthan Harrison - 6-3; 310; 5.22 - Florida - Stout at point of attack. Versatile enough to handle all three interior spots. Offers more competition for jobs in weak Colts interior.

Please keep in mind that I am anticipating next offseason will be addressed in both free agency AND the draft, in complimentary fashion. Some needs can/should be addressed in one or the other. Draft-wise, I emphasized WR and secondary early, since these are prime areas of need that can bring help that should contribute early.

No doubt, we need to look at the O-line, and that should be Grigsy's top priority and can be helped through agency far better than a draft missing a 1st rounder.

Anyway, I hope ya'll have fun picking my bones over this effort. After all, it's Thanksgiving and that's what we do best !

Happy Thanksgiving, Colts fans !
