With 8 weeks left in the 2013 NFL Season, the Indianapolis Colts are in control of their destiny.
Out of the 6 teams currently in playoff position, the Colts have the best chance, schedule-wise, to continue to win and grab the #1 seed. Take that in for a second.
They have allowed less Points Against than the current #2 Seed (New England), and only 1 less Points For than the current #1 Seed (Kansas City).
New England and Kansas City both play Denver in the coming weeks (Denver currently sits as a 7-1 Wild Card). The Patriots will also face off against Carolina (in Carolina), Miami, Cleveland, and Houston. Kansas City and Denver both play each other and San Diego twice in the coming weeks.
Indy's biggest tests in the last half of the season should come against Cincinnati and Kansas City (both winnable games with major playoff implications).
Though a #1 Seed is arguably the best position to be in, it's also considered a "cursed" position. 3 of the last 4 Super Bowl winners played in the Wild Card game (we do not speak of the fourth, but suffice it to say that both teams were #1 Seeds and one should have had an undefeated record going into the Super Bowl).
So, are you a practical prognosticator, or a superstitious one? Which playoff seed is best for the Colts?
