Let's preface this: I'm not unhappy with the Colts. It was a great game, and we'll get to that later. I want to address something else first.
This has been my third visit to Arrowhead Stadium in the last two years. I watched Chiefs v Broncos last year, and Chiefs v Chargers and Chiefs v Colts this year. In the past, I have been encouraged by the kindness of Chiefs' fans.Even in this year's Chargers game, the fans around me were respectful. This was not the case this game.
It may be common practice, but the first thing I noticed was that the seats behind the home team were cleared of ice, but every one on the visiting side were iced over. This seems disrespectful to all fans who make the choice to pay exorbitant fees to attend the game. After that, the fans were the worst I've ever seen.
There were multiple fans that actively encouraged injuring Luck and key members of the Colts on late shots in order to give them a playoff advantage. This was literally heard all throughout the section in which I attended. Also, Chiefs fans threw ice onto the field all game, to the point where the PA reminded them of the NFL as well as Arrowhead's conduct policy was to not throw things on the field. Even after these warnings, fans continued to throw ice at the players on the field. The amount of animosity of fans, including the cussing out of me and my girlfriend, were unprecedented. There are always a minority of fans that are rude and disruptive, but that is always outnumbered by the kind and respectful fans. This was not the case this game. I will likely never attend another game at Arrowhead again. I'm very disappointed in the KC fan base, and while I've been supportive of their resurgence this year, I've lost a lot of respect for them. The rudeness of the fans, both during and after the game, has completely changed my opinion.
Now to the positives:
Holy crap Griff Whalen. He was excellent today. He and Donald Brown were amazing. He looked like Austin Collie/Anthony Gonzolez today. On the defensive end, Mathis was his normal self, forcing a strip sack/interception, and Redding really stood out today. Freeman, as usual, has played like a Pro Bowl player. I was pleased with TRich, even though he got a lot of his yards in garbage time. The defense in general was excellent today, providing multiple turnovers with the potential for more.
Lastly, Da'Rick Rogers will be an amazing player. The Chiefs couldn't contain him. There were several plays where he was held, and he made at least one amazing reception. He has the potential to become a great player for us in the future. The future of our receivers and tight ends are strong after this year.
Luck looked great, and the makeshift offensive line looked really good. He's so good with time to throw. Hopefully, we will destroy them in the first round of the playoffs, as I no longer have any respect for the team and their fan base.
I'm extremely disappointed, and I no longer feel any good will toward the team from Kansas City, but I'm happy to have seen the Colts in person for the first time.
