This is strictly my personal view, since I don't review coach's film nor am I a talent evaluator. However, I have admired Josh McNary since I first heard him address the media this past summer in camp. Something in the manner in which he comported himself impressed me. I made a note to self at that time to keep tabs on this young man, and felt he might very well be a contributor this season and into the future.
Then, he hurts a hammy and misses a bunch of time, finally getting healthy a few weeks ago and receiving gradually increasing playing time. My fellow bloggers may recall that I stated pretty forcefully that I thought Josh should replace Pat Angerer, since Pat didn't look healthy and wasn't cutting it.
Well, against Kansas City McNary made me feel justified. Freeman was fairly constantly on the field, and Connor and Sheppard got a few reps early on. But, as the game progressed, it seemed to me that the best ILB tandem was Freeman and McNary. Those two seem to possess very similar athleticism and talent, and are the two best playmakers at the ILB spots. IMO.
Anyway, "ArmyStrong" seems to be rounding his game into peak shape at just the right time as we head into postseason mode. I am so very happy for him. He served his country well, and Ryan Grigson and Co. saw something in him they liked.
So did I.
