Are the Colts an extension of the Dayton Triangles?

Dayton Triangles 1920-'29.

Brooklyn Dodgers/Tigers 1930-'44.

Boston Yanks 1944-'48. The Brooklyn Tigers merged with the expansion Yanks after the 1944 season.

New York Bulldogs/Yanks 1949-'51.

Dallas Texans 1952.

Baltimore Colts 1953-'83.

Indianapolis Colts 1984-present.

The 1950 version of the Baltimore Colts are completely unrelated to the 1953-'83 team, having lasted just one NFL season after being absorbed, along with the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers, from the defunct All-American Football Conference. I do not consider the AAFC-NFL to be a merger like the AFL-NFL since only 3 of the 7 AAFC teams were absorbed, and only 2 of them for good.

The NFL does not recognize the Colts to be a continuation of the Dayton Triangles, or even the 1952 Dallas Texans, even though many of the same players transferred over during the multiple relocations. The NFL also does not consider the 1996-present Baltimore Ravens to be a continuation of the original 1950-'95 Cleveland Browns, yet most NFL fans know better.

I am interested in the opinions of current Colts fans. Do you consider your Colts to be an extension of the Dayton Triangles? Or do you not even recognize the history of the 1953-'83 Baltimore Colts, considering them to be a completely separate franchise? Or could you really not care less?
