Enforcer - To Be Determined

To date, the Colts have no true enforcer. Back in the day, I'd put Bob Sanders in this role, but the current Colts have no one on the roster that truly strikes fear in the heart of their opponents. Pass rushers like Dwight Freeney or Robert Mathis are absolutely respected, but they aren't feared.

Of the players currently on the roster, I'd say Mathis is closest to this role.

Brain - Pep Hamilton and Andrew Luck

At his introductory press conference, the new Colts offensive coordinator spoke about incorporating West Coast Offense passing concepts with a power running game, Wildcat, read-option, and pistol formations. Yeah, he's the brains of this operation. Of course, without a quarterback who understands and can execute these concepts, they're meaningless. This is why both Hamilton and Luck are the brainiacs of this Colts franchise.

Technician - Reggie Wayne

Football is a game of exactness. Emotion, power, and physical prowess are all a big part of it, but at the end of the day, the team that executes better typically wins. No player on the Colts, or in the entire league, embodies precise execution like Reggie Wayne. Every route run, every block thrown, every pass caught seems as if it were text book. When the man's career is finished, a coach could make a reel of any random play involving Wayne and show it to his team. "See! THIS is how you're supposed to play this game."

Loose cannon - To Be Determined

The Colts don't really have any chucklenuts on their roster; guys with a screw or three loose. Maybe Pat McAfee. Maybe, but I think he fits a different role (see below).

Motivator - Chuck Pagano

Pagano was hired because many consider him to be a fine defensive coach, but his real talent might be in his ability to motivate players and get them to play above and beyond themselves. His lockerroom speeches are Rockne-esque, and he is very intuitive at reading the pulse of his team.

Prankster - Pat McAfee

Few goofballs endear themselves to their teammates as much as McAfee does with his. A tireless student of his craft, McAfee makes sure to take the time to rib fellow teammates and, generally, act like a big kid. He's a free agent this offseason, and re-signing him as to be a huge priority for Indy.

Muscle - Jerrell Freeman

The Colts are surely lacking in the overall toughness department, especially on defense. However, one guy who brings his lunchbox with him every day is Freeman, the team's leading tackler last season.
