Colt's Needs Going Into the Draft

The Colts have dramatically improved their depth in many key positions through free agency. Many can argue that we overpaid with a number of players, but I believe you can't say that until they can prove themselves next season. Going into the 2013 Draft, the Colts still need a wide receiver and a pass rusher. Reggie Wayne is getting older and we need someone who can replace him in the coming years. Names that pop up in mind are Hopkins from Clemson, and also Woods from Cal. These two players can provide substantial improvement on offense.

Looking at the pass rushers in the draft, you can argue that they are more reliable than a wide receiver. Many pass rushers have fallen because of their performance at the Combine, which helps the Colts. I personally don't believe that the Combine should effect your draft stock, only the tape should. Damontre Moore is a very reliable defensive playmaker that can come off the edge with speed, which is a very vital need for the Colts. A linebacker such as Alec Ogletree or maybe even Jarvis Jones could possibly fall to the Colts at #24, but that is still a reach. These two Georgia Bulldog teammates are tenacious when chasing down the ball carrier. If any of these pass rushers fall down to the Colts, this is an easy pick.

The Colts still are under the cap at $11 million, and need to choose what is more important for their franchise. If the Colts get a wide receiver in free agency, a pass rusher is going to be picked (vice-versa). Darius-Heyward Bey visited the Colts this week, but left to Detroit without a contract. DHB highly praised the Lions after his visit Wednesday saying he would love to catch passes from Stafford. DHB is inconsistent running his routes and I would pass on him if I was Grigson. The Colts are in a better position than last year, with more upside in talent on the offensive and defensive line. This allows us to narrow down our possible picks in the draft. Please comment your opinions on what the Colts should do.
